SL - That looks excellent mate, as do all the other models in this thread. Certainly inspiring me to have a go. Whats the best kits for a beginner to start with?........ Thanks. I'd suggest something by Tamiya, they invariably fit together so nicely. The amount of detail will vary, depending if you get one of the old kits that were intended to be motorised (no engine detail) or the fully detailed and more recent race/rally cars. As well as the Japanese stuff they do a nice range of 'proper' classics.

I was going to say the same. Tamiya was all I built until I got into the rod/custom stuff (and they don't do that ) I always found they were excellently moulded and went together really easily. Nice clear instructions with good paint suggestions and good quality decals too.

Nice work on the Skyline SL, turned out very nice indeed, I'd agree with the Tamiya kits for a first build. Never had a bad one, and as Seth said, instructions and decals are good as well. I've always wondered why a lot of the Japanese kits can be motorised? I built an FX4 taxi kit years ago, Japanese (but don't recall which manufacturer), and it had all the parts included for motorisation. I built it up with the motor etc and it was amusing to watch it driving in circles until it smacked the skirting board a few minutes later. ;D Motor was removed and some front end repair was carried out.

You may recall I posted that the models were going to take a back seat as I was getting a 1/1 scale toy to play with? Well, I got the red Imp in my sig, and the wife started to divorce me, so I got the white Imp and the maroon Singer Vogue! Shame the Airfix forum was binned

Built quite a few, lost these when we moved house, no doubt they'll be in a box somewhere: Mk2 GTI is a long term project and will hopefully be a decent replica of mine: Beetle cab's since been painted Fiat broom yellow - narrowed the front beam already so those wheels will fit, need to do the rear too. Also working on a Datsun 510 I got from eBay, painted it Ford metallic brown and it looks the dog's!
