what a fantastic project mountains of work but it will all be worth it if you end up with one of these...... one of the nicest looking bikes ever IMHO

That's superb! I reckon that going to be a rewarding and enjoyable project I've no real interest in motorbikes per se, but after seeing that i'd love to undertake a similar project myself one day soon.

Cool bike and i understand why you're gonna restore it but it would make such a cool bobber

Cool bike and I understand why you're gonna restore it but it would make such a cool bobber Agreed but when its worth well into 5 figures restored..... id rather not do anything too radical with it..... also its kind of a tribute/legacy to the guy that bought and rode it originally and a bobber just wouldnt fit with that ethos at all Think of it as buying a Works Group B Lancia delta S4...... and then smoothing it all out to do a Euro look one..... You just wouldnt "Its just not cricket old boy"

ooh old two wheeled tat FTW how long do you think itll take? Depends how long the KAdett takes Thats first although I may get some of this dipped and stripped ready for inspection prior to Powdercoating in the mean time... I reckon a rolling chassis shouldnt take too long..... if I can sort the forks out Kadett first though

Just a quick update......... ;D I`m off up to collect this again at the weekend, and as I happen to have a load of chemicals on their way to me for some serious electrolysis, some of these components may well get a bit of a clean up while we are at it too That coupled with one of the guys at work who keeeps going on about it, means I am probably going to have to do something with it sooner or later !!

Nice.
Rather than having frame powder coated consider baked enamel as it's more in keeping with the original finish plus easier to touch up if it get chipped or damaged.

BTW I've recently bought a Francis Barnett Falcon part rolling chassis (frame forks, swinging arm and rear wheel !) and intend rebuilding that suitable for gentle green laning.
