Well it appears I "cancelled" the account.. which I didn't do. So now I've got the joy of trying to get my domain name back.
All of which I'm sure they will happily do through the use of their international premium rate help desk number.

I hope it's not been re-registered. I did a whois domain lookup and the results are:
LeaseDomains.com
Registered through: GoDaddy.com, Inc. (http://www.godaddy.com) Domain Name: RETRO-RIDES.COM
Domain servers in listed order: NS1.DSREDIRECTION.COM NS2.DSREDIRECTION.COM
Leasedomains seems to be a US ISP. If some other bandit has registered it you'll have a nightmare getting it back.

Yup.,... its all gone to hell in a handbasket, due to a couple of emails being eaten by hotmail. I really don't know what to do... but it is potentially goodbye retro-rides.com

You could approach leasedomains.com and ask to buy it back but I'm guessing they'll want cash for it given how quickly they snapped it up.

I've been advised by my domain registrar to wait 5 days. As they may cancel the registration if I don't approach them in that time (they buy up loads of expiring domains at once). My biggest issue is the lack of site for The Gathering. Also my email address that I use EVERYWHERE!! Luckily this place is still here, otherwise I'd have just walked away. Crying probably (I've been pretty close to crying to be honest with you). Managed to sort out my email address to be something else sensible. May have to think about the phoenix rising from the flames of Retro-rides..... god damn I've spent so much time building up the reputation of that name...... I'm so unhappy right now.

Is there not a .co.uk or .org available? This sucks but team spirit will win out in the end so no need to reach for the Kleenex just yet Hotwire!
What's in a name anyway? I used to be called Jane*

If it all goes t*ts up and they want a few quid to get it back I'm sure a few member would chip in to buy it back. I'm in if it comes to the worst.

As am I, even though I'm a bit skint. If they don't release the domain after 5 days, try and get a figure for it, and we'll see what we can do. ;D

If you're willing to move retro-rides.org is available at $7.99usd per year through GoDaddy, though I might be able to get you a 10% discount code for them.
Attached to.com though personally, would be willing to chip in aswell, but would rather not promote the disgraceful behavior of the company involved.

Why don't we all chip in for HotWire to get a plane ticket and a weapon of his choice? Sucks that they've done it HotWire All the best with getting it sorted, either way, we all still love the forum!

As a matter of principle I'm tempted to let is slide, I don't want to give any money to these people. I'll wait and see.
The site was getting tired away. Maybe its time for a bit of a relaunch.. I've got an idea.

Wouldn't think twice about chipping in for this place No doubt everyone else feels the same, this is an invaluable resource and should definitely be saved
