Are those really the tailpipes sprouting up just behind your head?!
Woooo-haaaaaa!!
I've never said that before and I don't really know what it means but it just felt appropriate somehow.

I absolutely love this landy, always have, but this pic has kinda put a dampener on it for me- I don't know how much you know about hot rods and chassis builds in general, but that is one of the shadiest setups ive seen for a while. stacked bits of box section to lower it- BAD (even if they're welded together AND to the axle, thats WAY too much block- id never use more than 4") U-bolt saddle plate so thin its bending under the force of the bolts being tightened- BAD (not to mention the huge, roughly cut, square cornered holes hacked in them) and a seriously fecked up scrubline- BAD yeah its low and cool and looks the part and all that, but please don't drive it on the road until that rear suspension is sorted out. it certainly aint safe and youd get totally dry bummed by the man if you get pulled or have an accident driving it. if you want me to explain more the issues, why it shouldnt be done like that I will do so...... ive seen what happens when rear axles like that fall off- which it will do eventually.

Great to see the rest of this one ....... always loved this since pog introduced it to the board. ;D Have to admit a darn sight less knowledge than Dez or Slater etc... so the amount of dropping via 'blocks' I couldn't comment on - but my MGB had weakened (bodged by last owner ) saddle plates at the rear and one did collapse on me - I survived as it as at low speed, but it wasn't a nice experience as the wheel destroyed the inner arch and the car span out. I didn't realise until I compared it to the suppliers replacement part Now the suspension is the first thing I check on any purchase!

Muchos gracias, merci beaucoup and nice one my son, like I say... I bought it, not built it. I'm as much a fan as you guys. Thanks for the concern too, it's always worth mentioning when you see something pretty unthinkable about to happen. But it's all in hand

and a seriously fecked up scrubline- BADSorry for being ignorant, Whats the scrubline? Look at the picture of the rear end, if I had a blow out... In theory the wheel would come into contact with the ground. Except in this case it wouldn't, the suspension components would first. These would then be ground away, dig in, collapse etc... Not good. The scrubline is the line you shouldn't have anything below like suspension. Basically the bottom of the wheel rim should be the first thing that touches the ground. Hope that makes sense.

I can't see how any slammed car is gonna have a good scrub-line... mine certainly doesn't! ;D Tim - if I understand it right, the scrubline is the bottom of the wheel rim. I.e.: if you have a blow-out and the car is riding on its rim, the chassis could be below the scrub-line and thus generating sparks a-plenty and a reduced amout of vehicle control ;D *EDIT* Beaten me to it ;D

All those things that Dez pointed out should be sorted easily enough I reckon I go through bouts of concern about my scrubline The only way I'd be able to sort mine is to fit 15 or 16in wheels, which means lower profile tyres. As my tyres constitute a huge part of my "suspension" I think I'd need a new spine after a while!

Now if I remember correctly, speaking to the guy who built it mumble years ago, didn't he annoy the LROC by cutting up the 4th oldest know Landie to build this?
Oh, welcome home sir. If you get 5 mins on your busy schedule, gis a bell. Would be good to have a catch-up.

such a cool vehicle (dunno if its a LR or a car now haha). annoying classic car pervs is the best feeling ever!
but, one thing thats always confused about scrublines- why is it worse for the chunks of steel holding the axle on to touch the ground than a bare steel rim? they're both gonna offer zero traction and mucho sparks so why does it matter? not like you'd be able to keep driving on either of them either?

Because one rolls and one doesnt The control you have with a flat tyre/running on rim, although reduced, is far more that you have with the U bolts dug in to the tarmac. As I remember it was built to P1$$ off the Hot rod guys and the "Pre 51" rule or something, the fact the Flat Cappers didnt get it either is just the icing on the cake ;D
