Scirroco..... Dirt cheap, reliable, cheap to run and fix, loads available. I bought a 1.8 carb Scala for £200 with FSH Ran it for a Year 16000 miles, cost me £30 for a sump and £20 to give it a service, and a set of tyres. Never missed a beat, comfortable, quick enough and great fun to drive. Sold it a year later for £600 ;D Its still going strong and the blokes done another 8000 miles so far and loves it ;D one of the best cars I have ever owned HTH Dom

Get the local Autotrader. In there there'll be loads of Volvo 2s/7s, Nissan Micras, Austin Maestros, Ford Sierras, Fiestas and the like, VX Carltons, that sort of thing for dirt cheap. All borderline retro I'll admit, but that's not a bad thing, and if you go for a Volvo or a Nissan (and possibly a decent condition Sierra) then you'll have a pretty dependable motor for your £100 I reckon.

Something Japanese I'd say - bulletproof mechanicals and driven by doddery old owners... Micras, Starlets, Civics... that sort of thing...

Yeah it's gotta be a Skoda Favorit - estate ones are nice.... Mk3 Fezzas and Mk5 Escrotes are just frickin' awful in my opinion! I picked up my (t)rusty Hyundai Pony for a ton (only cos it had t&t mind.... ) Image is the pits but the 1.5 Mitsi engine aint bad.... and my mates think it's funny that the old crate has 4 electric windows and PAS. I drive it like I stole it, I can park it in any ghetto area with no chance it'll get nicked (even with gaffer tape for a window! )

am liking the idea of sierra and scirrocos, but i am insured to drive anything under a 2 litre, but would like to stick it as close ot that mark as possible (for obvious performance reasons ;D ;D) its gotta be oozing retro cool aswell.
dya recon i could get an e30 3 series (or earlier) for that sorta money?
i want something that looks cool without doing much other than slammin it and polishing the wheels (and other cheap ass mods)
as basically i need it so i can take the escy off the road and pinto power it!
trade insurance, don't ya love it!

I think youd be pushing it to get a Beemer for that money ? With a Traders policy thats even better, Roccos are more than GTIs to Insure for some reason. Get a 1.8, either GT with injection or Scala with Carb (Webber is bolt on cheap HP) comes with Alloys that will polish up nicely as well. I`ll did out some pics of my £200 one and post them up Cheers Dom

Hmmm, 'Rocco's do look cool.
Audi has same engine, more versatility, all hard work is done (uprated dampers etc)....
Plus you can pretent to be Stig Blomqvist ;D ;D ;D ;D

Pics as Promised I paid £200 for this unseen from a freind, it was pretty much mint, with FSH including every tax disc, mot, invoice, original bill of sale Even had the scirroco brochure that the guy had written down the figures and spec on the back when he went to have a look Had a Weber Twin choke Carb fitted and a lower strut brace as well......... Should never have sold it really..... Happy Hunting Dom
