I have an XE engine on 45s i don't need. i would stick rings in it though as it runs nice, but does smoke a bit.

No wasn't me at billing, I coulnt make it over for the show. So you have a spare redtop on 45's that you want to donate to the project, I like the way you're thinking

Been a while since i updated this, been a while since i got anything done it I suppose! I've got a working starter motor again but the engine is dead for some unknown reason at the minute. Radiator is getting mended after it became a colander last year and I finally, one year plus later, got a window from the owners club which i fitted today. I also got a heater control panel (there was none in the car and no hoses connected to engine for the heater anyway when i bought it!) and i'm currently in the process of removing the dash so i can get at the gubbins - great fiddly work in the cold!! Hope to get it back on the road asap cos i miss driving it!!!!

I spent yesterday going decidedly backwards it would seem! I recently got a control panel for the heating mechanism in the GT and thought i'd start about setting it up. However, someone in the cars previous ownership seen good sense to just cut the connecting cables off and leave it to me to try to sort out. Being quite a small, but well packaged, car it means that i couldnt just climb under the dash and try to fumble around in the dark. So after lots of patience (and unearthing more inspiring previous "fixes" ) this happened: All to get to this bad boy: So today i'm hoping to get somewhere with connecting it all together and fitting the fascia panel. As i said before i got the window back in and running smoother than the previous one because it too seemed to have a "fix" somewhere along the way And i've also aquired a nice fuel cap from a Celica ST to replace the out of place modern "aero" cap that someone has fitted. It needs a bit of work to fit but it is a nice looking piece and suits the car much better than the other aftermarket jobbie:

Wow, that looks like real instrument wiring. Reminds me of someones story of their car being sidelined for a few months until they found a wire had fallen off their ammeter gauge. But then my Lancia has oil level, temperature AND pressure gauges !

Thanks man, as for back on the road.....for some reason it doesn't want to play the game at all (i'm convinced it hates me!) but i've got my radiator back this evening so once i fit that and replace the alternator (which is also fine it turns out) then i'll be good to go if i can trace where the deadness is coming from. I really want it running again, i miss driving it!!

Radiator fixed and back in........ Starter and alternator hooked up again also (although i need to replace a bushing on the alternator bracket that has perished) That leaves me with refitting the dash and giving it a turn over, will it work? Will it fall apart around me? ..................

Hi, You want one of these fitted to your car. I bought it from ebay for £28 last year. I modded a steering mount plate with adaptor to a quick boss. The boss has a contact plate with wire attached to work with horn botton. This is how it looks and works. Puch the pin in and steering wheel comes off. This is what it looks like when fitted. Cheers Atchi

Frustratingly, the GT started today and ran a little. Then it got fed up and has refused to do anything since. The electrics are in such a state on this car that its a nightmare trying to trace the problems. As I said before, someone in the car's past has decided that it'd be a great idea to alter the wiring and splice as many different colours of wire together in the process!!! Tracing any wire takes ages and all binding has to be cut back to see exactly which wire goes where. All that means the car looks broken into again!! Guy booked for next week to come and do the electrics for me........

Fixed the fuel leak today and also got the wiring half sorted - the car now runs, stops and starts on the key but frustratingly the oil light will not go off once the car is switched off - it works fine when the ignition is turned on, and yes, there is adequate oil in the system. Long time since I actually got to drive the car so I took it out for a blast Unfortunately the radiator sprang another leak at this stage and shat its guts all over that carpark so it'll have to come out again to get re-cored. So close, so close
