the foam may be to stop the panel vibrating from the rear spring mount transmitting road noise through it(i guess it is otherwise unsupported)
a road test from 1972 complain's of body panel boom from the rear of mk1 capri's

Great going Dave, continue to be inpressed with your energy and economic use of time. Having seen how fast you work, I know you have obviously done much more than meets the eye. Cheers Rian, wish it was true mate but i´m not as quick as I used to be.....old git! ;D P.S. Are you at home this evening? i´ll give you a bell later ;D I do believe he was being sarcastic No Maxx, Tims´ question is quite valid. To be honest i´m not sure but as the donor car was full of foam in exactly the same spaces i´m assumimg Ford did it... We´ll have to wait until one of the Ford professionals comes up with an answer. Hi Dave, Yes, I just got in about 10 minutes ago...... ;D Been looking at new cars and riding the bike with Nicola, Was going to call you tonight as well. Chat in a bit.

It took me a couple of hours to get it all lined up properly but i got there in the end. Sorry about the lousy photo but it´s in ;D, i´ve primed the inside with a couple of coats of black 2k brushed on and will seal everything up with some Sikaflex tomorrow before it get´s the treatment with some "Schutz". So with a short break to watch our Sebastian show the rest of the world how to drive in the wet ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ...i got stuck into the front. With the left hand wing off it isn´t looking too good... lots of work here... never mind, there´s no gowing back now so got the anglegrinder out again and got stuck in... I know why that rag has been there for the last few years... must have got pretty wet in there when it was raining. Good job i´ve got that donor car outside......now minus this... ..think i might need it tomorrow! This is what was left of that corner..... Hours today = 12 Total hours invested =69 Money spent today = 0 Euros Total money spent = 527 Eurosthanks for looking in ;D Dave

Whats the tank with the green ends mounted on the wall? That mate, is a diesel heater. Which, thanks for reminding me, needs fixing before winter comes!

Cheers ;D No mate, 2k and compessor, you can buy it in cans over here but it´s very expensive. Have you got your van finished? Cheers fella for the info - I'll need to borrow a compressor to spray my car anyway so I'll have to do it all at once Van is roadworthy and my everyday vehicle... as for 'finished', it isn't painted or pretty. I'm currently working on my VW beetle instead, I've got a thread on it here in the readers rides bit Keep up the ace work on the Capri! Wish I worked that quickly

just stick some dyna mat on the inside of the rear 1/4 ... do a better job neway ...good bit of mind reading there! With the price of metal as high as it is at the moment, I chopped the roof off the last van I scrapped and will use it to patch up the Capri.....original Ford parts, so to speak! ;D On the "to do" list for today was to sort out the hole in front ot the left hand B post... Started off replacing the flange which had been a bit flakey... Then got the top sorted, I was lucky here as I didn´t have to take out all the electrics... This bit is now twice as thick as it was in 1978 so should last a while... .....then I used the bit i´d chopped off the donor car to close the rest up. and then hid it all under some 2K primer. I´ll put some seamsealer on it tomorrow before giving it a onceover with some "Schutz" Hours today = 4 Total hours invested =73 Money spent today = 0 Euros Total money spent (incl. the car) = 527 EurosCheers, Dave

It´s not that difficult mate, get yourself a welder and play around with some scrap bits before you get stuck in. I´m sure there´s enough people on here that will help with advice when you get stuck! ;D

thats really coming on nice mate wish I could get going on my 100e as quick but other stuff keeps getting in the way Cheers Mark, looking at your new bonnet it´s not as if you´re lying on the sofa all evening either! Looks like the front left hand inner wing is going to need replacing...had a bit of a poke around this evening and it´s not too healthy, never mind it´s only metal but there´s no way i was doing that this evening! ;D I wanted to get the windscreen surround sorted so whipped out the old one which wasn´t too difficult... Patched up a hole that shouldn´t have been there... ...and then after a couple of hours fettling got the "new original Ford replacement" one in and partly welded up ;D I´ll finish it off tomorrow hopefully and start looking for some new holes to find! Hours today = 4 Total hours invested =77 Money spent today = 0 Euros Total money spent (incl. the car) = 527 Euros
