mmmm ive alway's had a soft spot for the old father ted cortina,,,,,,,definatley a zetec/duratec conversion candidate but to save youreself from the vv hassle, you'll be needing either one of these ;D the right one is a 40 dfi (capri 3.0s and RS3100)maybe abit big though for economy and the other is a 32/36 DGV,,found on most 1.6/1.7/2.0 fords ,,,,just check the flange base is flat and the throttle spindle bearing arent worn,,a common problem with old ones they'll fit on something like this (not mine tho) cgi.ebay.co.uk/Ford-Pinto-Escort-Capri-kit-car-2-0-Inlet-manifold_W0QQitemZ260304079861QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item260304079861&_trkparms=72%3A1301|39%3A1|66%3A2|65%3A12|240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

shopping list for type 9 conversion: gearbox, cortina auto gearbox x-member, 2.0 propshaft, 2.0 clutch kit. you need the prop and clutch because the type 9 has a 23 spline input/output shaft where as the 1.6 is only 20. get some waxoyl on it too! lol.

5 speed and other cortina conversions cortinacentral.bravehost.com/5speed.htmlBrakes - adjust the rears! 90% of the time is that, especialy on the 1.6s as the ratchet adjuster on the backs is curse word at the best of times, i have the better of the 2 setups and still have to adjust em once a month also make sure some twonk aint wound the handbrake cable up to get a low lever without adjusting the shoes, taht really screws the brake balence up ! also change the fluid as soon as

Well I'm still loving the qwertina! Popped along to the Ledge that is Scaryoldcortina's gaff! Andy checked it over: We made some adjustments (i mean Andy did I just gawped in awe) and catalouged what needs to be done. List is: Front Wheel Bearing Brake Pads Central Prop Dougnut Void bushes Shocks Exhaust. As for rust its looking like the inner wings need some patches and the rear panel behind the bumper is grotty. The wings are saveable and the scuttle just needs a quick plate and a bit filler. Anyway the tyre's were curse word so I was dispatched to find some Mondeo steels with decent tyres. Not a difficult job you would assume........well you haven't reckoned on my ineptitude! Anyway managed to get a couple and get them on to much improvement! Gunna get some more 14's to match the backs and then give them all a quick blast over with some matt black to tidy them up. Overall I'm most pleased!! Some work I can tinker on with while I collect all the bits and I'm enjoying every minute of it!

Well I haven't updated this for sometime.
The MOT's run out and its at Scary Old Cortina Towers. Gunna get the MOT work done and then I can smoke around in it again!
I had been thinking of selling it but I've had a resurgence of enthusiasm and have even formulated a plan for how I want it to look!
OH......I've also bought a new interior for it out of a volvo 960 which should fit with a bit of persuasion!

Very nice! My old man went through 20 odd MK4/5s in the 80s and 90s he was totally mad for them. you hardly ever see them these days considering how many were made.
nice one with the 960 interior, should go in nicely

Well its been quite some time since I updated this thread. The good old Qwertina is simmering away. Mostly solid now and will be back on the road this year. I've bought a Flat so money is now a lot tighter and plans have had to be pulled back a bit. So far the shell has been made 99% solid and Andy has fitted -3" Gaz Lowering Springs, Spax Shocks and Polybushed the front. Just waiting for the top ball joints I ordered nearly 3 weeks ago to arrive and then the front suspension will be complete. Oh and here's some pictures of what else I have to fit: Volvo 960 Leather, a different steering wheel and a staggered set of Alleycats 13x7's for the front and 13x8 for the back. I'm going to be frunning some narrow high profile Tyres to try and get some "bubble Stretch", hoping to get a kind of Shakotan kinda look. Anyway I'll try and keep this thread updated.

Well I've been turning up at Scaryoldcortina's unit fairly regularly recently. Mainly to stand around in an attempt to be helpful, and to try and learn stuff about working on old cars. As always Andy has been incredibly patient. Especially as my car keeps trying to injure him. Today after various injuries and swearing we finally had all the parts together and the suspension went back together and its now finally lowered! Have an out of focus Shot: Dead chuffed with how it sits!

Paint is quite a question.......Ideally I want it painted in the original colours......but that costs quite a bit of money. So it'll probably be looking a bit rough for a while until I can afford it.

I like the two-tone paint, I think you're right to keep it! Are they Escort Cosworth / Mondeo alloys? They look nice but the Alleycats are gonna be spot on!

They are 90's specials.....TSW Stealths.
Just need to decide on the size for the tyres for the Alleycats.
