Nice work! I hope you're not going to run with those Wellers on though, 4x100mm wheels on a 4x4" (101.6mm) Viva wont be doing any good for the wheelstuds. A set of wobblebolts would sort that... I have some in the garage you can have for a pint if they fit (m12x1.25, so probably not)

as long as the weldings better than what it looked on the micra I'm sure you should be ok, good luck ;-) yap ;D get my self a new toy so should be able to do alot better welds, I just need to practice Its a clarke 110EN Turbo. Its sooo much better than the cheap ass ebay special sip I had. Nice work! I hope you're not going to run with those Wellers on though, 4x100mm wheels on a 4x4" (101.6mm) Viva wont be doing any good for the wheelstuds. The wellers actually sit centraly on the studs soo much better than on the micra, which has lead me to believe they are actually 4x4 and not 4x100. A set of wobblebolts would sort that... I have some in the garage you can have for a pint if they fit (m12x1.25, so probably not) Viva's use nuts though

theres a good chance that those old style wellers will be 4x4", you could use a vernier caliper to check.

Who needs a Micra when there's PROPER retros around? A lot of job there, but keep on welding and it will be good one day. I know how it is, after restoring my 544... There's always rust everywhere on old cars... So keep up the good work!

finshed most of the boot / fuel tank area just little bits then tidy the welds up and paint. Its not tidy (my hand was shaking all over because of the cold!! ) And I cant be bothered to keep going over it till it looks perfect. This car will never be in mint condition till Ive got a nice big warm lock up where I strip it down to the shell. Anyways, pics: floor in arch bit in. How hard is it welding thin (about .6ish mm) to thick (about 1.2ish mm) metal!! In the end I used a decent power setting and did very quick spots with the torch facing the thick metal near the thin.

Looking good dude, that's awesome work for on the drive! Exactly as you've discovered with the thick to thin, start the arc and get the metal melted on the thick and roll it off the edge into the thin. Use your left hand as a rest for the torch when you're welding with your right, means you can minimise the shaking too.

Looks good. If you think welding 0.6mm to 1.2mm is bad wait till you try doing 4mm to 0.6 lol. Just been doing some roll cage feet, was a nightmare.

That's a neat little repair panel there.Looks like your welding is improving, keep at it and you'll soon be making lovely neat beads (of weld that is!)
Good work.
