well after what seems like an age.. I took it for its test today.. and she passed no probs.. at the test station.. only one small thing to sort.. its always had a problem with the carb..and thought I had got it running a bit better after a strip down and clean up off the standard carb.. but it would seam that maybe I did'nt!! the CO was down as low as 1.120.. but at one point it got as low as 0.2.!! so no wounder it wouldn't rev out!! even after a play with the mixture screw., still couldn't get it any higher?? so got it home and thought it was time to sort it.. so..... I have had a webber of off a 2.0 pinto(i think that's what it was of?!) kicking about for ages., so thought this would be better than what was already fitted.. only thing was the bolt holes were different so picked up a peace off scrap 12mm alloy plate. and knocked up an adaptor carb of and inlet ready for the adaptor. adaptor bolted on and webber bolted on had to lightly mod the linkages but it fitted really well took it for a test drive.. and whooo.. whats a difference!! its completely different to drive now. pulls well and starts so much easier ;D just need to find an airfillter for it now.. but I'm a happy bunny now its got ticket on it...6mths ago when I picked it up, did'nt think I would ever get there!!

Looking at your carb conversion, you might consider some kind of heat shield under the carb, bearing in mind the exhaust is on that side too. Toyotas often had a plate, (not unlike the one you made) but made from some kind of thermoset plastic to insulate the carb a bit. They had wings that extended out the sides to help redirect the rising heat. Not essential, but it all helps to keep the induction a bit cooler.
BTW I like your van a lot. And the wheels suit it too. Nice to see one saved. I think most went rotten or got exported.

well time to start on the inside 8-)the plan always was for a day van.. but now I'm using it for work.. thought how could I do both?? well seeing as its so big in side!! ;Thought I would board the rear out and use it to keep my kit for work in.. and then still have enough room in the front half for a rock and roll seat/bed and a small sink/hob unit so thats the plan! so the rear bulkhead in and boarded out. then added a shelf out off 1" MDF, nice and strong.. should take the weight off my tools on top?!! it was at this point that the kids came out and asked if that was the bed up there :Dand that got me thinking?!! maybe it could be.. so with the rock and roll bed up front for me and the Mrs.. the kids could? sleep on the rear bed.. and I could have a 4 berth camper/ works van!!! ;Everyones a winner took a couple off photos off it, just cos I had the camera with me looking at this one, think the front needs to come down a touch more to make it level with the rear???

right not much time to do much to her for the last couple off mouths! been getting myself squared away work wise! so just been using it ;D couple off things have been done.... the suspension has settled down a tad more.. which in my book is a good thing! only got 5mm of bump stop travel left ;D fitted a sun roof, one dry warm sunny day.... then it rained for a week after!!! now the twin weber I fitted just after the test was meant to only be a temporary replacement... as after sitting in mates garage for 20 years unused! it wasn't to good.. and it started playing up...sssoooo! I went out and paid for a new weber replacement.. only with a difference! the listing weber gave for the hiace asain replacement was a weber 32/34 DMTL.. but I wanted something a bit more economical.. not performance wise.. and came up with a 34 ICH as fitted to 2.0 transits and 2.25 landrovers.. easier to work on and lot cheaper to so after making a alloy adaptor plate. bolted it all on and went for a test drive... ;D that's better!!! should get a bit more MPG out off this baby!! only thing was.. still did'nt have an air filter for it.. so knocked up/bodged an old K&N on it for now! now should be picking up a T4 rear bench seat at the weekend, so get on with that.. then windows.. then respray!! p.s. sorry for poor photos! really need to remeber to put new batteries in my camera!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Yes these are very good vans often overlooked. The best thing is they don't carry the scene tax of VW's.......hard for me to admit being a VW fanatic.
