If it was mint with 12 months' MoT and 6 months' tax I'd be asking £1200 for it, not £200. yeh I know mate, just saying it is worth what you are asking,if it had 6mths tax and 12mths mot then I could see why it was "car of the week" Yeah, I have to admit I was (pleasantly) surprised myself when I saw this thread, out of all the hundreds of cars for sale threads, stickied to the top of the board - especially since it's (as far as I'm aware) the first AOTW .

Regardless of wuvvum's legendary status, I think the car/advert warrants its status. Best of luck with the sale, is it on all the relevant Saab sites? ¿¿¿Legendary status??? Where does that come from?! Thanks though... I did put the car up for sale on a few Saab sites, but had no response whatsoever. I also put it up on carandclassic - had a few enquiries through there and a couple of people who sounded interested but never actually turned up to view the car. I'm reluctant to 'Bay it as it stands as it'd probably end up being stripped for bits and I think it deserves better than that.

sorry I still fail to see why its so good?it has no mot no tax a blowing exhaust, rusty doors, things don't work the head lining is shot plus other bits.. not slagging the add of but its only worth just what the price he is asking. if it was mint with 12mths mot,6 mths tax then I could see why.. I´ll use your useless comment as a free bump but in the future if you´ve got nothing positive to say don´t say anything at all

I love some of your stories and hearing about your fleet. You are right, it would be a shame for it to be broken or whatever, but you cant force somebody to buy + run it.

True - any idea how much it us to had it put right? 99p for a box of map tacks . Or take it out and stick it back up with spray adhesive. I've never really looked into how much it'd cost to get it done properly - I've always gone the tack route with Saabs (and Jags and Volvo 740s) that had droopy headlinings.

It's a bloody Carlsson for £200! Do you have the faintest idea how tunable they are? The droopy headlining can be sorted out through a retrim and stripping it back to bare metal, and mopping any condensation up. Not too expensive either. Wrong exhaust - give JT a ring. Tis a shame to see another bodged with the wrong set up though. They're a pain to source in the UK - that's why the wrong pipe has been boshed on. Seriously....people make me laugh with what they expect for sod all. But the last time I piped up on a sellers thread, several people chucked their toys out of the pram at me, so I'll leave it. No storage and transport for me wuv. Saab mad mate is suffering the same. Liam, I can get the thread off the Saab forum for you off my mate who has a similarly afflicted 9000 if you want. It takes you through step by step how to re - do the headlining. His is stripped roof wise because we changed the sunroof over from a metal one to a glass one. Lerrus know and I can PM it you. Best of luck with the sale wuv.

Just read through this thread, can't beleive its not sold, from what I understand its a Saab 9000 Carlsson with FSH and all MOT certs, Docs including the original bill of sale stating its a SAAB 9000 CARLSSON. I think it is a genuine Carlsson as they appear to have been badged differently for different markets (see below), so Saab probably registered the first ones just as a Turbo.
All in all I seems to have a strangulative backbox - easily sorted, and a saggy headlining.. EVERY 9000 i've owned, looked at, or been in has had one of these, a couple of hours work and some 3M spray adhesive and its sorted..
Then there is the main point.. ITS £200.. £200... I paid £400 for a 9000S with a fubared clutch and short test, because they are such good cars.
Some notes on the Saab 9000 Carlsson from Saab9000.com:
From 1988, a special high performance version of the 9000 turbo was introduced in the form of the Talladega, which was built to commemorate the endurance records set by three standard turbocharged SAAB 9000s at Talladega Speedway in the US. In total 19 new international records were set. In the UK alone, the Talladega was marketed as the 9000 Carlsson. A trifle brash for some tastes, this model used a revised ecu with revised programming to allow higher boost pressures and a different ignition advance curve. A twin tailpipe exhaust completed the engine modifications that produced an additional 20 or so BHP.
Externally, the Carlsson made its presence felt with colour coded wheel arch mouldings, colour coded sill extensions and bumpers, together with a less than understated tailgate spoiler. The external appearance is very much an acquired taste but inside the cabin, differences are confined to the fitment of a stylish leather bound Momo steering wheel. All the cars I have seen have been fitted with air conditioning and some have had suede seat inserts in the sides of the leather facings. Carlssons should be fitted with 16” alloys: either the crosswire style or the more desirable dished, two tone super aero style so beloved of enthusiasts. Early Carlssons will invariably be fitted with the 2 litre turbo engine but later sloping front hatches could have the 2.3 (B234) engine fitted, probably with SAAB Traction Control System (TCS) and anti-lock brakes (ABS). Specialists reckon the saloon version of the Carlsson is quite rare. Officially, the Carlsson was only available in white, graphite metallic, red and black. Automatic transmission was not a popular option with this car and the author has seen but one example so equipped!

I can't take much more of this!!! Its painful! are you sure it's a carlsson? I put the reg into confused.com and it just said it's a regular 9000 turbo - plus that exhaust looks a bit small(?) there is a copy of the original sales invoice dated 31/10/1989 from Saab Great Britain Limited, and it lists the model as "SAAB 9000 CARLSSON". I checked out the reg and it's not a carlsson it's a 9000 turbo 16 thing is the headlining and the loss of power due to wrong backbox puts me off otherwise i'd be there handing over some cash with you right now! Get real, course you wouldnt! This is the most blatant case of virtual tyrekicking yet seen on RR. I strongly suspect even if wuvvum said you could have it for nowt you'd be dithering over the cost of the train ticket and the fact theres a rust bleb on the door bottom.

as stated before swmbo isn't a fan of projects and i have been looking into 900 and 9000 turbos for a few weeks now - also need to sort out storage with my dad and he's dithering over it too. Us students need to know exactly what we're getting and if it's good value for money even if it is only £200 - that's a week's worth of booze! haha

I would reccomend you lower your sights and spend your £200 on pot noodles and copies of 'nuts' magazine, they're easier to store/collect/identify/maintain etc than old cars.
