Not to start "all that again" because I wasn't there so I missed what "all that" was, but i had a few PMs off him and he seemed alright. He seems to be someone who doesn't entirely "get" internet forums, which is possibly to do with the fact that he seems to be "of an older generation" than most of you (and even me!) plus maybe not having what the sociologists refer to as a "A rated educational background". Neither of these are reasons to jump all over him every time he posts and the weird post delete and edit thing could well be to do with him not being familiar with "how things work on the net"
Maybe threads should be deleted rather than sent to the winge bin? Maybe the winge bin is a mistake.
Also the other forum I use a lot has a points system and enough points gets you a 1 week ban (called an enforced forum holiday!) Points are issued for abusive posts, arguing with a moderator, starting another thread like one that got locked, bumping ancient threads, posting threads just to moan about your other thread getting locked or you getting points, ruining a good thread, spam, etc.
If the software doesn't support points then fair enough but I would have thought that maybe we might have to spell out some of the "rules" as I have seen a few threads titled stuff like "my last thread went in the bin so..." which really should be the point at which you think "so will this one, maybe I'd better not then, eh?"

Someone just brought this thread to my attention so i thought i'd come over to explain my actions the other night. First of all let me clear one thing up. I've never been a member of practical classics forums and i'd never even heard of oldskool untill he started posting on here. The first post of his i saw was the 510 thread which turned into a load of abuse, deleted posts and him generaly making an of himself. After that he started a few pointless threads about this or that car being retro, totally ignoring all the advice given to him to read the MO, also he kept hinting at how he was going to banger this or that but 'couldnt talk about that kind of thing on here'. As far as i could tell he seemed to be out to cause trouble and i thought for a while he might have been someone who left here under a cloud who had come back for revenge. Then he started the national hot rod thread. As i stated in that thread i have a little bit of knowledge on that subject so i decieded to get involved and after a while i started to change my opinion of him. In spite of the fact that most of his information read like it was being copied straight out of a history of oval racing i began to think that everyone was wrong about him and he was actually quite a nice bloke. Then, out of the blue he sent me a PM saying, from what i remember; You don't realise who i am do you? Been there, done that. Just keep watching, see what skool does next. Cryptic to say the least, and probably not that offensive in hindsight, but at the time it got my back up. You wouldnt go up to someone in real life and talk to them like that so why do it on the internet. Anyway, that was the last time i bothered to have anything to do with him. I had a few PM's from people afterwards saying that they too were getting PM's from him and at least one member said they were getting fed up with it. Ever since then i did my best to ignore him but it did surprise me that he was pretty much being left to do as he pleased, upsetting established members of this forum, destroying threads and everytime something happened it would be us who were blamed. I actually started to think he was a dupe account started by the mods as some kind of sick early april fool joke. After he destroyed pogs thread on saturday, also being quite abusive although that probably got deleted, i thought his time would be up, but when pog started a thread to make clear how fed up with it he was the thread got locked almost straight away, no discussion, no arguments, just instantly locked. It seemed to me that the whole matter was just going to be swept under the carpet, pog would be painted as the bad guy, which it seems that he has, and evrything would carry on as normal. I don't really want to be part of that and thats the reason i deleted my account. I say it was out of protest, you'll probably say i spat my dummy or stormed off in a huff but we'll agree to differ. I know this place has no hierarchy and i'm all in favour of that, but when an established, trustworthy member makes a complaint about someone who has caused problems on this forum in the past i would expect it to be taken seriously not just locked. Its good policy not let peoples history on other forums affect our judgement of them, but at the same time you have to know that theres very rarely smoke without fire. Oldskool wouldnt have been banned from PC forums for bad spelling either. Either way, i'm going to be taking an extended holiday for the forseeable future, I'll still look in and have a browse through the one or two good threads that are on here from time to time and i'll still be at shows. TBH i'm not angry at what happened, just sad that it happened on the one place i really loved.

He was left to do as he pleased because NO ONE RAISED IT TO ME!!
How many times do I have to say.
Now his behaviour has been raised, via PM, and EVIDENCE of wrong doing has been shown to me... he is banned.
Also, frankly Rev. Dick whilst I really do like, respect and enjoy your input into the forums your actions were completely baseless, as no one has TOLD ME what was going on.. just whipping yourself up into a Daily Mail type frenzy. Whilst I certainly don't want the behaviour that has been exhibited by "Skool" and his various guises, I don't want behaviour that you and Pog exhibited either.
And if you really loved it you'd work to make it better... not make a bit spectacle of yourself. I have little or no time for people that delete their accounts in order to "make a point"... it doesn't improve the community, it doesn't make anything better and it doesn't make a point...

I have little or no time for people that delete their accounts in order to "make a point"... it doesn't improve the community, it doesn't make anything better and it doesn't make a point... To be fair I think that Pog and Rev Dick did/do love this place and that's why they "left in a huff" for want of a better way of putting it. If you love something a hell of a lot and someone comes along and appears to be ruining it it's not always that easy to be rational. On the face of it RR is just an internet forum, but in reality it's a very special place that most of us feel a lot of love for. When has love ever been rational and sensible? We are only human, we get upset and do irrational things...if we didn't care we wouldn't get upset. I think we can all learn something from this, even the mods and Hotwire. RR was obviously set up to be about the cars, which it still is....but IMO it's changed to be almost as much about the members as the cars. I apologise for rambling on, at least it's not on the main board!! POG and Rev. Dick., please come back

I will have to say Hotwire one of the reasons I started this thread (sorry everyone ) is I sent you a pm a couple of weeks back regarding a completely different member who it seems joined here to cause trouble. I came to the defense of someone selling their own vehicle after him slagging it off and then got physical threats and terrible language pm's off the new member. I did report this to you, and you said you would keep an eye on it (3 days later). Unless we can somehow get the forum to be able to report a post for the Mods/admin to look at, its really difficult. As said previously the forum has grown massively and these posts are very difficult for every mod to see (especially when there are only 3 active mods). The reason I'm saying you maybe need some more mods is maybe a couple that come on here at night times to monitor that when most of us are asleep. As for you not trusting other people to be a mod, your not exactly giving them your children to look after here. They could just move a potentially harmfull thread off an open forum for you to look at, at a later date maybe? The whinge bin I believe is also a bad idea for some posts, mabe not all. You still have that Homophobic one on there that still angers me when I see it. I think posts like that which not only break forum rules, but could be reported to the isp should be deleted, not locked and available for everyone to see. I know that members views is not the members of this forum, or any other members but having it available to view is very dodgy. Bearing in mind the amount of work the few of you do to help run this forum I really think your doing an amazing job . I just think it may be beneficial for a bit of extra help.

I've missed all the 'fun' really, but I'm happy that we seem to have a resolution. It's been a bit arsey of late, but I think it's the season to let things get to you a bit.
However, I must agree about the Whinge Bin. By all means but whingey threads in there, but homophobic threads surely have no place here at all?!

I then dealt with the issue on the 27th,... check their last logged in date. We don't have to make a grand song and dance about things for them to get solved. Anyway this conversation is over.
