Ah there is something wrong with the rear axle. Only got down yesterday to clear up the garage as I've been rather distracted - flat out in work etc. So plan is to whip off the rear axle and see where I'm at! Garage is now nice and clean though: And it still drives:

As said on Tues night (and again today)....a well deserved WIN. The 11th hour build to get this car to the Gathering, the wheels, the stance....the owner; all worthy of the award.
Be proud.

So since the gathering last year, the 115 has been neglected due to a W116/Datsun/Work. I pulled it out of a corner a couple of weeks ago and with Bruce's help, got the driveshafts replaced. Was an interesting job, and getting a diff back into place on your own without a ramp is an interesting job.
I decided, while I was at it, to tuck up the exhaust as much as I could. I made up a new mount and it has worked out pretty well (needs some rubber between the body and the exhaust). While I was at it, I discovered a leaky heater valve so I have to fix that.
Apart from that, she's as I want her, save for some firmer suspension, and a full respray.

Heater valve is fixed I think, replaced the o-rings so just hoping now that there isn't anything I missed! Need to give the old bird a good polish now and sort out the exhaust and I think it's good to roll.

It's been a long time since I've updated this, never mind seen the car but it is now taxed and insured for the year I have some big plans for it and these will come to a reality but I want to see if I can role it for a while as is. Needs some recommissioning and will be attempting to start it for the first time in 6 years this weekend!

So last years tax & insurance was a waste of money, car didn't leave the garage. In fact, it didn't leave until today! I've been distracted by a Mk2 Golf GTI I bought last year which took a huge amount of work to get back on the road. Well that's now done and save for a ew small jobs, I can now focus on the Merc. This started with clearing out the mess left from the Golf. Then I had to get a Mini going which was a nightmare as the in-tank pump was clogged, rear access was blocked and brakes were seized! After that, I was finally able to get the w115 free. First job was changing the rear springs out for a set of used springs a mate of mine gave me. The old springs were just too short, made the car pretty much unusable around here and a quick tweak of the replacement springs the ride height is bang on: Not a huge amount to do to it: - Fuel leak from return hose - Replace fuel filter - Top up diff (its leaking a bit after changing drive shaft) - Clean Ultimately it needs proper paint as the paint match was brutal last time from the paint shop, might try ordering some 050 weiss somewhere and give it another go.
