If you have AA Relay cover and the car is taxed, you could always buy the car, ring the AA and either get it fixed at the roadside, or get the car recovered where ever you want (ie - home) Not that i have ever done this you understand

This seems a mega bargain to me, i'm sure the running problem is something trivial. get it going, bosh a fresh ticket on and punt it out on the bay for at least £600 I reckon, probably more.

dugong are you telling me that you buy everything at full price wether it says o.n.o or not, atleast my point of view is a valid one,you just seem insistant to make me sound unreasonable for offering the seller a price, johnny I can go to £175 and collect with cash, let me no either way, thanks adam No, I don't pay full price for things as it happens. Correct on pointing out ONO, I will concede that, and I'm not saying you're unreasonable for making johnny an offer. Within what he wants, it's a fair offer. I just don't consider 'wah wah I've got to take time off work and drive miles and miles' a valid reason to make an offer. What you've offered him in itself is not unreasonable, the reason that you're using (uneccessary IMHO) is. I wouldn't accept distance as a reason to make an offer when selling cars \ parts, any problems pointed out mechanically or bodily I would. I had to make a 500 odd mile round trip to buy my Volvo, and got £450 knocked off the price based on faults pointed out. NOT ONCE did I bleat about the distance involved. I accept that the margins with Johnny's car are different. It's in much better condition, and the price is lower. Differences in opinion then. Why did you not make him an offer based on the running problems? That's fair and square. Believe it or not (and I'm sorry for dragging this FS thread off topic into a miasma of buyer \ seller etiquette) I don't want to have a go at you over this Adam, it's just I am being messed around chronically by someone who is using the exact same argument as you. I am not comparing you two as people, it just struck a nerve. I agree that to get this car will be a ballache for you - it's a long trip and time off work. But this (and I'll say it again) is a tacit factor in buying an old or unusual car. You have to go the distance (as the Cake song goes). You have the dedication, and I wish you the best with it. *Goes to the pub and stops offending people* Lovely car Johnny, looks like it's going to a good home. Truce?

I don't see the problem with making an offer after taking into consideration the distance needed to collect it. It all needs to be factored in when deciding how much something is worth to you. I do it with all the cars I buy. If something is in Aberdeen I wont want to pay as much for it as the same idem on my doorstep as the cost of fetching it would make it too expensive.
Johhny asked for offers and after considering different factors relating to cost Lowrider offered what he thought it was worth to him. I really don't see the problem in that. The answer will either be yes or no.
It really is a stonking car though. I bet the running problem is nothing, probably a blocked carb filter or jet or something. Maybe a good blast and some carb cleaner will do the trick!

Do you know what? If I went outside, and all my cars had been stolen I think id jump on a crapobus for £5 or something and give you the moolah. Its deffo worth it. Have to drive up the M40/M6 in first gear though.

it says £200 o.n.o unless you havnt read the thread properly ,iv offered £150 and it is a lot of miles,I'm not having an arguement, just made an offer and waiting for a reply, would meet him half way at £175,but the more I can get nocked off the cheaper its oign to work out as iv got fuel and a day off work to collect, adam Yes but that's your problem not his so why should he lose out? I've just done a 520 mile round trip to get my Saab, I never once considered asking the seller to knock his price down because of that.

He's just offered £150, you haven't offered anything, why can't he take his costs into consideration? Would have been okay if he just said I'll give you £150?

This thread has turned into a sad example of how some people are ruining this forum. I thought forum rage like this was just reserved for the Max Power stylee boards. Can we try and keep Retro Rides an enjoyable place to visit. A For Sale thread should be kept related to the actual sale of the car (Apologies for filling the post with more spam, I just think people need to think clearly before they post. Peace Out! )

Just caught up with your for sale thread JS. A classic example of how a thread can be ruined. How did you get on, have you sold it yet mate?
