I had similar results myself - i was only trying to knock a few flakey bits of paint off a light ring, didnt happen. I've had a great result with the impact gun, cut-off wheel, die-grinder, spraying gear and drill so i cant complain! I've spent 20euro on worse hookers!

I agree, my Aldi spot blaster is about as effective as Clearasil, maybe that's what it's for, spots, their other kit all works fine.

all joking aside isnt that what its for? to blast small rust spots? my experience of these is that the are for blasting stone chips... they arent really made for media blasting large areas.

Like he said it's a spot blaster, also you need a lot of air to grit blast and for the baking powder set up, Clarks say 3hp motor thats 12ish cfm to run their small blast gun efficiently.

considering grit didnt touch the rocker cover i cant see soda doing much
so if i buy an alternative gun could i do small items at home , or do i need a massivve compressor still

maybe adding a second air reciever inline, you would ahvce to wait for it to charge and blast in spurts rather than continuously but would give you more air for short periods of time

Right well this is a pic of my gun I use kiln dried sharp sand from B&Q The compressor is a 2.5 hp 50ltr resevoiur I don't have many pics of before and after but this is the result of a one second burst at about 9 inchs range, on an ally head and here is some paint that i was stipping of some weller steels. will find the pic in a sec

Can't find the pic at this second
But you have to run the gun and compressor at FULL whack, and take short breaks to allow the compressor to catch up

The aldi gun will never do big areas of paint and rust removal etc no matter what compressor you use, its designed for cleaning up tiny spots on surfaces as part of a paint repair system for touching in stone-chips and small scratches etc. We used to have a few of them at a previous job I had and they were useless for anything other than a concentrated blast on an area about the size of a 1p piece. Even then, its quite a gentle action.
