The distance between the front wheel and the base of the windscreen and front of the door is far too long for a calibra. Infact, I cant think of any car that has that sort of length there.
I would say its a home-made chassis holding together a few bits of various cars.
Having said that, looking at the shot of the bonnet/wing panel gap, there appears to be an inner wing running at least part of the length of the gap. Perhaps the inner wings and front suspension mounts from something have been stuck onto the front of his chassis? EDIT.... scrap that, i think its just a bit of box-section steel, not an inner wing as such.
The front brakes are an aftermarket big brake conversion - often found on fords and vauxhalls. The rear discs and calipers look like vauxhall parts to me.
Steeringwheel and switchgear are certainly vaux, but the gearknob is from a ford - which would back up the ford engine/box roumour, although whether its really a cosworth engine I have no idea.
I don't reognise the shape of the screen, but his home-made a-pillars hide it somewhat. The doors have small quarterlight windows on them, but they look too small and too flat for calibra ones. VW perhaps?
In the very fist picture, above the rear wheel....is that a macpherson strut?
