Quite much put together in front now... Am I the only one to actually LIKE the look with yellow indicators and headlamp wipers? If you missed it last time...280E air intakes... ...and 280E taillamp trim. And an ugly rear muffler that needs replacing for something cooler. Time to get rid of the ugly sills... Here after grinding the rust and paintdust... Primer on bare spots. ...one coat of stonechip. 2-comp. paint on rattlecan, first time I tried one, worked very well. Not bad at all. It is the original "galanite grey" satin color. Looks better than black sills. Throwing in a picture of my fathers new winter beater too... Fun when there's some snow on the ground with 6 cylinders and 180 hp... Very nice condition.

Air deflectors. Not sure if I like it or not. My first thought was "YUCK!" but I've started to like them more the more I've looked at them, and some period accessories can always be cool... I also feel that the car is a bit quieter, of course much quieter with the windows down, but I feel the same when the windows are rolled up...maybe a sign of dry door rubber? But they have their downsides... One of them are that they are in the way and ruins the vision a bit...but that may be a question of getting used to them. We'll see if I keep them or sell them again... Nothing that is stamped on every part today.

No cracks in the head! Haven't checked out if it's straight yet though... Anyone who knows if M102 heads can be milled if that's not the case? Despite 29 years and 190 000 km on the clock, the cylinder bores are looking very nice.

Camshaft are shot too, and a new stocker is too expensive IMO.
There is tuning camshafts available in germany for about 300 euros. So, I am thinking about souping up the engine a bit.
276 or 280/284 degree camshaft, milled and possibly slightly ported head (but the flow are good in those already from the factory). Do I remember right that the 190E 16V had a tube header from the factory, and will it fit on an 8V, in a W123 body? Mating that to the 280E dual exhaust maybe?
Opinions?

Well, it has been running now for a while.
The head is milled 0,8 mm and I changed to a Dbilas 276 degree camshaft, no more changes this far, but man, it's a difference! Not much weaker in the low end but it really awakens around 2500 RPM and it's like it never stops accelerating, and then, the gearbox and its ratios is really working well together with this engine setup, when driven hard, you keep it in the right range all the time.
Waiting for answers about an exhaust header I'm going to buy, maybe it will make things work even better.
Also, I'm thinking about retiring this one as a daily now, since I've got my eyes on a cheap C180 estate (203 model). The wear and tear on a car that still is looking quite pristine after 30 years bothers me, and using it as a commuter to work or to carry dirty heavy things in really takes some of the magic out of it.
My idea is that cars should be driven, so it is not about that, I will keep using it, but maybe I have greater possibilities to get it in the shape I want it if I don't have to be able to use it everyday....

I had huge problems with water leaking into the boot on this car. I localized it to a broken taillamp, so i thought that it could be an idea to swap to the US taillamps that has been lying around here for over a year now. Tried to spray the car with the hose and it seems like it is dry now. Besides, it is a nice addition to the looks too.
