had this for quite while . . but took it out of it's dusty corner today to clean my workshop . . . I really love the look of it's rear end . . . oh look . . it's brown on browner ;D sorry, I had only my prehistoric crappy point-and-shoot-camera with me . . so picture quality is very low .. anyway it's not as nice as it looks . . will need a lot of welding and probably a completely new interior (so maybe a really fat track car?? . ;D) . . oh well . . it's going to be a future project . .

Well, I like it! Saw one in the South West of England last week - right next to the sea. I hope yours is rather more rust free!!

I used to own a 3.0si back in 92 that I bought for £400. It was pretty damn quick with 200bhp and a rare sight nowadays.

yeah they really disappeared quickly . . you can pick up a really really good one (if you find one . .) for about 5'000£ these days . . so restoring a bad one is just pointless (I got mine for free . . because nobody else wanted it, but am not sure what to do with it) . . . there are a few good ones around, but there's nobody who really wants em . . sad, since I think they are great cars!

well . . news on the E3-front ;D . . after having the blue one for over 3 years sitting in my workshop in the dusty corner . . I decided to sell it . . it has just too much rust ,. . too many layers of lousy paint jobs . . just too much curse word to make me wanna invest any time or money . . . And to be honest . . I really need to cut down on my car fleet . . So I put it up for sale as "restoration project" . . not 2 days later, a customer of ours wants to get rid of his granpa's "old useless BMW" which blocks the garage so his shiny new Bimmer doesn't has a place to stay . . I went and had a look . . 2 hours later it was blocking my garage and my "not so new and shiny" daily-driver Bimmer has to stay outside . . . . so I ended up getting a second E3 instead of selling the one I had . . great . . that was in November last year . . I just didn't have time to make some pictures . . today I did . . even though they are lousy ones . . Anyway . . it's a '72 3.0S automatic as well . . but in way better condition . . original "chamonix" paint (I really love it . . thought about painting the blue one in chamonix) . . some rustbubbles but nothing serious . . even the spots where E3 like to rust like crazy are ok . . the blue velour interiour isn't perfect but way better then the brown one in the blue car . . so overall a base I can work with . . and the blue one will be a good donor car . . ;D . . now: PICTURES! Quite sporty looking for a big luxury barge . . .(funny fact . . the new 5 Series is almost 8 inches longer than the E3 . .) I love the rear end . . (and thanks to the blue one, I do have a rear bumper without a dent . .) proper 4 door saloon . . yikes! . . not too impressed with the colour of the blue interiour . . but could be worse . . . will take more pics, as soon as it's moved to my workshop . .

Awesome stuff. My dad had a 2500 E3 when I was a kid. Brilliant car I never liked the early E3's as the 2500 . . probably because the main attraction for me on the E3 is it's rear end . . which was different on the early cars . . . and the silver grill around the headlights doesn't work for me either . . . it's one of the few cars which I like the "late" ones better than the older "real retro" ones . .

hmm . . didn't know 2500's were even made in the "facelift" form . . thought the 3.0S was the base model . . but very cool pictures . . is that a vinyl roof on the second picture?? . . . . . me want! Oooh. I love these being a BMW freak! Proper hooligans car back in the day. with a top speed of 200 km/h you were in the top league at that time . . today you have to wrestle with small cheap family diesels on the middle lane . . . .
