Finally after work and a week away on a residential getting in the way I managed to get some more done Got the bottom of one of the doors more or less finished. First I built up the rear edge to match the shape of the rear quarter panel. Then fitted it to check the gap. Pretty close, might just need a little filler to make it perfect. Then butt welded in the end piece. Then seam welded the underneath repair section. It actually welded pretty well appart from a couple of places where I had to weld up holes. Looks a bit untidy in the picture. Looks a lot better ground off. I also crimped the bottom over properly. First layer of filler on. Sanded and the second layer applied. That is as far as I got today. Hope to get a bit more filling and the other repairs done to the door through the week.

Hi Dave - Just stumbled across this - Some serious skills and patience there but you will be rewarded with a fantastic and almost unique car there - Keep it up!

More done today although I seemed to make little progress considering the time I spent there The bottom of the first door is starting to take shape. Only three more to do! Another small repair needed on this door. Area was cleaned up. And zinc primed mainly to protect the inside. The top of this door is quite badly rotten. I'm pondering what to do here..... I also continued removing the drivers side inner wing today. The reason being it has been 'repaired' in the past by simply plating over rust leaving rusty holes inside the bulkhead area. I decided I wanted a better job. More next time ;D

Small update without photos as I forgot the camera!!
Removed the sound deadening from the drivers side front floor this afternoon. Took absolutely ages! This also necesitated the removal of the steering column and pedals, so the interior is now just about fully stripped! Hopefully will have some photos of the rot in the bulkhead area soon!

Yes, I own the doors and front and rear screens as from about a year ago. I think I will end up with the front wings too!

Been away for a week but finally got to do some more this afternoon as I was not at work ;D Slight disaster as all the torrential rain had dislodged a roofing slate and we had a little flood First job was to remove the surface rust from the bottom of the repaired door and give it a coat of etch primer for protection: Next I carried on with the drivers side inner wing continuing to remove the previous repairs I was not happy with: The area was cleaned up and the first bit of rust cut out. The number of pieces of metal on top of each other was ridiculous! I have now ended up with this There is still more metal to remove but I'm getting there. Thanks to the way the previous repairs were done it is going to be a bit tricky I think. I cleaned up the bottom of the door pillar but I think it may need a bit of work down here too Finally I gave the bare areas a coat of etch primer to give it some protection!

Certainly a mammoth job, glad to see you haven't shied away and are prepared to try and repair things rather than just scoop up replacements and bolt on.

The chance would be a fine thing! Actually I did have 1 lucky find of some better secondhand doors but I decided to repair the originals. NOS panels seem to be virtually non existant even in Italy.

Not really an update but I did clean up a few NOS parts I have managed to find for the old girl. First a new pair of wiper arms. Before and after pics. And a new pair of rear lights cleaned up. I look forward to the day when I can start to fit these nice new items
