Sorry I haven't been on all that much recently!! But yes, a bit of an update!
Tarka; Thanks mate. Have heard of the place, I am aiming on roller painting, RAL6011 from www.rustoleum.co.uk, But will check out what they can do for me. What do you drive?
So update, still my daily driver, and still going! I've been constantly tinkering with timing and the points, not all bad as I have learnt some. After the condenser giving up and stranding me, I decided to do away with the points and condenser! Had no clue these kits were in existence, but boy am I grateful they were pointed out to me!
£50 later, electronic ignition kit and a Lucas 'Sports' Gold Coil, and everything is much improved. Only a couple of weeks so far, but touch wood the engine will stay solid. After swapping, I had her timed up and fuel mixture set up and is now a dream to drive. Hoping she'll stay this way and I'll be able to turn to the body work very soon!
I bought the kit from:
www.simonbbc.com
The new coil and ign kit:
Inside of my dizzy, failed attempt at replacing the points!
The replacement points!
After realising I was a MONG, and that infact the top bracket SPINS - I moved it round slightly and hey presto the unit fits
So there we go, engine running sweet as. On my way for a week in Little Haven (Pembrokeshire) soon, and looking forward to the 3 hour drive! She still scrubs up well, though the once iffy bits are steadily getting worse (the masking tape from the MOT Tester for example...)
Cheers!
