Sweet looking ride my friend. I bought a W123 230E manual last week. Aside from the ride height, it looks very much like yours! As much as I like the look of your car, mine is staying stock. Take it easy. Peter C

Cheers yzn they're 195/65 up front, and standard on the back. Peter - your 230E looks very clean, can't see a spot of rust anywhere! Is it a non-sunroof model? I can totally understand staying stock height, I'm constantly scraping the exhaust, and often the sump too (luckily it has a very beefy sump guard!)

Matty,
My 230E is clean but it's not perfect. The previous owner had the rear arches done and whilst the effect is perfectly acceptable, I can see filler on close inspection. There is a little rust coming through the rear panel, below the rear screen.
The car has a sunroof but the drainage tubes must be clear as the roof works fine and there is no rust anywhere on the roof.
My interior is the same colour as yours, but more poverty spec.
It would be cool to take a snap of both rides side by side. Sadly, you're in Cardiff and I'm in deep Buckinghamshire.

Same colour cloth too?! I'd love to see a couple of photos A side-by-side photo shoot would be cool - maybe at the Retro-Rides Gathering next year?

Looks lovely mate ^^^ Is it wrong that i'm jealous of your manual windows? haha Recently my benz has lost it's front silencer, and aquired a pair of 7 foot long stainless steel downpipes, which now sit about 3" higher than the old ones did just need to sort the pipes going under the diff now, as they've worn flat with all the scraping and sparks Really need to get that dropped sunroof sorted for next year, but it apparently involves taking the headlining out... *GULP* Some random photos from the last few weeks Jobs to do - fix sunroof, find and fit new rear N/S taillight lens, as mine's cracked and looks curse word, and find and fit a new set of window scraper seals, as i'm convinced the O/S/R door is letting in water, and the seals look trashed, plus hopefully a little pinstriping on the bootlid in the new year

I'm pretty sure that you can adjust the sunroof just by removing the headlining on the sunroof itself, it doesn't require the whole roof to come down. I'm sure I did it like that on my old coupe, and I cant see why the sunroof mechs would be that different.
I think you have to open the sun roof a third then the leading edge pops down, and it all slides forward, but its a good few years since i did it.

Removing the headliner ain't a big job on a W123 IIRC.

Nope - it is a big job, I'm afraid. Both the front and rear glass has to come out so it can be hung properly.
Edit - you won't have to take it down to fix the roof, just the sunroof section!

True - but that always depends on what one is comparing with... Compared to a modern car with glued windows and a hard headliner, it is a much easier job... But of course, it is even better if not needed.

Ah, a thing I haven't noticed before, do the RHD W123s have an umbrella handbrake? :S
