Si, that makes my head spin a bit.. but I have persevered with google and ebay to figure out what you mean.
I think you are suggesting a concentric slave cylinder.. meaning it'd be a bearing against the clutch diaphragm (is it bad I say 'die-a-fragum' to myself to help me remember how to spell that?) and bolted to the clutch arm by way of conversion plate, which I would then be able to lop off directly after the pivot point, negating the need for sticky outy bits and thus reducing the amount of Hammer Time on my transmission tunnel. Did I get it right?
EDIT: No no, I think I got it nearly right. The concentric slave wosface would replace the movement of the arm altogether. My concentric friend would be solid mounted and emulating the pivoting arm that is currently being in the way.
Dirty oil burner A52 subsection, perhaps? Me, you and Kev ;D

Me, you and Kev ;D I think Si meant mounting the concentric slave directly to the gearbox/bellhousing rather than the release arm, but otherwise I think that's exactly what he meant. I can't afford to do it at present, but I'm having dirty thoughts about Ivecos and one of those SD1s in the scrapyard in Nottingham. ;D

James, I edited before I saw your response.. I understood in the end You shouldn't let dirty thoughts stay in your head, James, less they will grow and become some sort of fetish

You shouldn't let dirty thoughts stay in your head, James, less they will grow and become some sort of fetish Too late Oh, you meant SD1 diseasel ideas. ;D It might be a more sensible addition to the fleet than a Vitesse, which is the other option - they do maybe 24mpg on a run, and about 15 around town...

No pics because I forgot the camera.. I've moved out of my unit in the last week or so.. The reason being it's costing me £20/week and the intention was for me to work on the Volvo in it. The Volvo is still being spannered on in my Gran's garage so I'm consolidating all my tat into the space I'm not paying to use. The engine, after MANY angry sweary words is up the slope and into the garage. I've plonked it into the engine bay since there was nowhere else to really put it.. And I reckon it will all fit fairly well. The crossmember may need some tickling as mentioned before but overall, in terms of height and width and clearance on other components, I'm happy with it. The front crossmember that incorporates the mounts for the engine is probably too narrow, so chances are I will be remaking that out of some mansize box section. I'm struggling at the moment because everything is nothing more than theory, mockups and visualisations. The aim is to get the final position of the engine sorted ASAP so that I've got some decent datums to work from and stuff. Mojo is running high EDIT: Forgot to mention the clutch thing. Si's idea would be awesome if it wasn't for the fact that it's a 'pull' clutch. So I'll be chopping down the clutch arm and mounting a slave cylinder behind it.

Unfortunately Ben had to sell this on due to more important commitments BUT it does live on in the hands of "aceshigh" who has put it back on the road in petrol form
