Hi all. I really-really needed a ride that I could use now, so I ended up with a nice old Renault. Both of my Mitsubishis are in pieces so, can use them now can I. Now the Renault. It's a sedan version of the R11. It has a 1.4L engine with 65 horses. It's body is in pretty good shape. Underneath, the mufflers are blown apart and the fuel tank and axles are a bit rusty but the floor is in mint-condition. So far I've cleaned the starter+solenoid and replaced the alternator. The radiator still needs to be fixed or replaced. There's no other engine trouble, it starts fairly easily when pushed and it runs smoothly if you count out the tractor noise it makes without a muffler(or two). PS! If anyone has a wiring diagram for it, I'd appreciate Pics* Hopefully result

Bless you ;D I haven't used "the stick" on any of my cars so far. So if anybody could guide me trough the proper procedures then I might just hit my Renault with a stick So far, the car starts by key now The starter motor didn't have power connected to it

They're fairly easy to lower- the front is just coil springs- the rear... I have a workshop manual that outlines the correct procedure for adjusting the rear ride height, might be able to scan it- it's for the US variant but underneath they're 99% the same. If anyone else has a "real" R9 manual, shout now

When lowering, do you think i would need stiffer torsion bars? Have: Leak-less radiator and a working FM radio (car's original) just had to whack it a few times to get the FM transistor to work again But now I'm puzzled... I don't remember what wires go to witch thermostat... so my car doesn't show me any readings and/or temperatures...

I've had several R11's and a 9, they are fantastic cars, seriously THE most under-rated small/medium car of it's time (so much better, more comfortable & better equipped than escorts or astras). The later ones with the twin choke webber carbs are best (look out for a manifold+carb in breakers yards, if you've got the crappy single choke solex, you won't believe the difference) torsion bar should put up with being knocked down a spline or two. The 1.4 engines are virtually bullet-proof, just don't over-heat it (although water pump seals usually blow before the head gasket). Rad shouldn't be difficult to find, you can modify pretty much any 9 or 11 rad to fit very easily. Electrics weren't the best, but the more basic ones usually have most things still working. I would love to drive one again, they're so rare over here now, & I covered so many miles in them, did over 20000miles in one year in my first 11 (my first ever car), it had over 168000 on the clock when I put it in storage, then I gave up the storage unit with all the cars in it (4 renault 11's a 21 and an old volvo) after I couldn't keep up with the rent!

The sender for the temperature gauge is at the top of the engine, passenger side, just behind the water pump pulley. If you've got the one with the fuel injection (I don't think the Broadway was injected?) then the sender(s) on the gearbox end of the cylinder head work the ECU for the injection.
Nutgone: Makes me wonder what would have happened to the 9's sales if they sold the 2-door variant with the 2.0 engine in that I have over here... probably would have eaten a lot harder into Ford and Vauxhall's market share of the era.

Working on it Found some lowering springs (-35mm) and new shocks. But, what manufacturer shocks should i buy? Lowering springs are V-Maxx... Still need to open-up the rear torsion suspension so i could lower it a bit
