Update 1
New project to keep me busy through the Autum
Couple of weeks ago I got offered an Aplate 16 LS quite cheap so jumped at the chance, unfortunatly I decided the deal was so good I didn't even bother veiwing it and after abit of proding with a pointy stick turned out to be abit of a basket case!
Had already decided I wanted an Xpack and managed to source the kit and a set of Retro Alleycat Slots, and although the LS could be repaired I started a hunt for another Capri for a base and came across this one on Ebay.
Started out life as a 16 laser but someware along the way had been given a tasty 205 2.0 Pinto with a 4 branch k&n Kent Cam etc (pulls like a train) and seems pretty solid alround
So this week I made a start on transforming it into the Xpack.
Quite a sinking feeling cutting into minty wings and quarters, but needs must!
Bonding the arches in position was a nightmare but my bodywork skills are definatly getting a workout with this project!
The Slots i'd got had been in storage for a good bit, but a couple of hours with the polisher and they seem to be coming up, test fitted with the quarter in primer and the 32mm spacer in place.
Rear bumper was pretty shot but after some head scratching and some grinding decided quarter bumpers were the way to go. Finished off the front arch and repaired a nasy dent in the door, more primer and one sides getting pretty close to done!
(just noticed how angry my GTR looks in that last pic covered in compound dust! Treat her to a wash tommorow! )
Have got the other side all sorted out now and shes about ready for some paint but waiting to here back about renting a big garage for over the Autum/Winter to get some paint on. Still not sure on a colour yet and thinking of getting some 10x13 rims on too!
Update 2
Just picked up a set of 10X13s and another Xpack kit for a mrk2 (box arch type) will fit a mrk3 fine also with a bit of work. So my other one may be getting resurected! Look out for Xpack project 2 once this ones done!
Color decided......Riviera blue!
Update 3
Wanted to do something abit different with the wheels
Test fit
Should fill the arches perfect once shes slammed abit!
Really wanted something one off, very time consuming and still not 100% on them yet
Will get another one done hopefully tommorow night and see how they look on.
Cheers
Sean
Update 4
Ok, so got a second wheel done and dropped her a few mm at the front (needs to go a good bit lower though!)
Still wasn't sure about the rims, so rattle caned a bit of Riviera Blue on....... much better!
