Hi there! Come join in the fun, there needs to be more evolved XJ6's!
XJS 3.6 engine mounts, in their entirety. From where they bolt on to the front subframe, up to where they bolt onto the engine, including the rubber portion. Don't mix them up as they are left and right handed!

Best of luck!
JanM has proved it can be done, I'm going to start collecting stuff and trying again while running an AJ6, and you're going for it too! All inspiring stuff...
Any chance you can start a thread on your car here? More Jag content is always good.

I'm at a stanstill. I'm working my butt off clearing the garden of trees and building rubble so I can move Ropey up to my new house from my parents.

Rich,
Seems like there is a healthy interest for the old XJ6 among us scandinavian folks!
And Rich, good to hear that you´re not spending your day lying on the sofa, soon back on the right track...
norwegianxjc,
Best of luck with your project, will be interesting to follow!

I've just got wind of another AJ6 powered car on the way. 4.0 AJ6 into a S1.. the ranks of the evolved XJ6's are growing.
No sofa for me, not when there's trees need felling and brambles clearing. I want my car up at my house by christmas!

It will be a lovely car when the 3.6 is up and running - and really quite quick. The AJ6 is an underrated engine in my view.

It looks like you've fitted the engine so that it sits vertically in the engine bay? The AJ6 engine is supposed to lean over to the right by 10-15 degrees.

You seem to have the mounts on the crossmember the right way round, but I'm not sure about the metal mounts on the engine. I'll check Ropey out later and get back to you. I *think* you may need to move the one on the exhaust side (right photo) up to the next set of bolt holes.. the sump should sit level.

Glad it was something simple! How have you rigged the gearbox mount on your car?

I have the XJS mount but I don't like it. I'm planning on modifying an original mount instead, as it locates it better. I don't like the almost unhindered movement toward the transmission tunnel the XJS mount allows.

Hi Rich and norwegian, Here is some pics of the transmission mount for the Getrag 290 I made for my 1970 XJ6, don´t know if the location differs for the 265 boxes you are using but maybe to some guidance anyhow. imageshack.com/a/img836/5246/gnxp.jpgI don´t doubt that the original coil/spring/rubber mounting is a very subtle piece of construction but to have that working as intended, adjusted to the weight and length of the engine/ transmission and to the correct propshaft angles just seemed to become too complicated. Was easier to use a simple rubber mount, the one I have is intended for a Volvo trans or engine. Has worked ok so far, not noticed any excessive vibrations. Only consideration is the fact that the transmission mount is bolted directly to the chassi but the engine mounts to a already rubber supported subframe, could eventually be some unwanted tensions there. Will probably test some hydraulic mount later on. And a piece of advice about the rear end; noticed when I took the pictures that my radius arms bushings are beginning to come apart, could be a good idea to use some better material for those. The XJR6 engine, and especially combined with a manual, sure is a very nice swap indeed! / JanM

One more question for you guys..did u use the s3 fuel tank? Never seen one before so wondered if it has a bigger outlet to the pump than the carburettor cars..
