(don't forget more oil capacity also means more expensive oil changes) You're not wrong there! A mate of mine has a turbocharged Beetle which he uses for rallying. It's not a dry sump, but there is a monster external oil cooler, oil lines for the turbo and remote-mounted oil filter. All this plumbing takes his oil capacity up from the usual VW 3 litres-ish to a ridiculous 10 litres! Really hurts the old wallet every time he fills it up, especially since it's running top-shelf oil to keep the race motor alive! |
