Was trundling through traffic in Chelsea this afternoon, just popped by Cars of Kensington for a gawp at the quality metal on show and a we pulled into traffic this beast shot by, caught it up and managed to leap out for a photo before it blasted off down a side road......  Its the Sultan of Brunei's Bentley Val D'Iser, a 4wd 1990s Turbo R Shooting Brake, it was running trade plates so he may have sold it now, slightly ungainly car, but uber rare and really practical ;D |

Mmm, coachbuilt '90s Bentley turbo! Lovely. Excellent spot, you obviously know your stuff when it comes to this sort of car. Oddly enough it looks very Volvo-ish to me in side profile, although I suppose an extremely square and masculine car turned into a shooting brake generally will!

I've heard about it for a long time, never seen it in the metal, bit of Googling revealed the full spec. He also has a Ferrari 456 Shooting Brake in the City as well ;D

He had 4 of the 456's built!IIRC two are 3door,two are 5door!They're pretty cool to be fair!
And I don't think the Bentley was coachbuilt,I believe it was a direct factory order!

It could be ordered from the factory, but the work was shipped out to Jankel, the armoured car and limo builders to build it.  |

I remember seeing one of these for sale in the back of Classic Cars Magazine a couple of years ago, it may well have been this very car. Love it! Great spotting, Steve.

;D OK, Steve, but if 4-drs (as well as 2drs) are shooting brakes, then there's no dif between a shooting brake and any sort of estate. But that ain't right. (Bentley... pffft! That's just a VW brand...  ) |
