If this weekend doesn't happen dude I might be able to sort out a LWB merc sprinter during the week next week. Let us know how it goes this weekend.
Ooooh just thought it would fit in the back of the suburban if i remove the seats so if you get stuck... Would be something stupid in fuel though.

Speaking of lifts and naked pictures, there's a 2 post lift down the road from me going for 250, but needs lifting blocks... any idea how much these would cost, or if it means the lift's buggered? Otherwise, looks like a good deal to me.
Bruce, naked pix on their way.

Grr! In typical Tri fashion I'm working all weekend . If it was next weekend I'd be glad to be a manual labourer/tea maker (I have literally 0 knowledge when it comes to such things as lifts). Jolly good show, though!

Right, the plan is pretty much finalised - Codename "DayRelease": - I meet ScoobyPete @ J18 M4 - 9am where he jumps in my car and we get to Bradfield for 10am
- Meet up with Speedman and his big van @ 10am where we
attempt to load the lift into back of said van
- Drive to Bristol in AX/van convoy where we
attempt to unload the lift at Area 52
- Drink tea
- Drill test holes in floor of A52 to see how thick the floor is
- Drink more tea
- Read magazine
- Plan parts 3&4 of operation "DayRelease" (install lift......wire up lift)
- 1 more tea and some Hob Nobs
- Head home
If anyone else feels like lending a hand, please let me know? Messenjah - thanks for the offer, but are you sure you want to risk hurting your shoulder even more? It's a damn heavy/bulky thing to be shifting! Jrevillug - it'd be great if you are able to pop along to A52 on Sat. If you PM me your number I'll be able to give you more details as things happen on Saturday. Anyone & everyone welcome to come over to A52 on Sat. It's not an official playday, but you never know - we might even be able to get the thing installed if there is enough people? (or we could just drink copious amounts of tea and read retro car mags ;D) Many thanks again to those willing and able to lend a hand. It's lovely to get such a positive response.

You missed out the bit where you print naked photos in A1 and put them all around the inside and outside of Area 52

Had this EXACT scenario recently!! They are a nightmare to fit, VERY heavy bit of kit too. Took me three hours to fit, once painted and four of us to lift each post. Wiring I had done by my landlord check this bit out as I had to use an approved chap cos of elf and safety/insurance. If it helps Ive a twin axle car transporter that can be used, currently in storage in Keynsham with morris minor on it, should you need it can maybe help. Not sure i'd put in in a van long way to lift things into I managed to get an engine hoist (as in picture) also you can borrow if you need it! Makes life a lot easier, with a van you might not be able to pull it out as easily. Just my 2p's worth!! Fitting a kitchen over the weekend so may not be about to help, otherwise id be down, despite swearing NEVER to fit one again....yes its one of those jobs! lol Ad

Well, today was 'Operation DayRelease' - collecting and moving the lift from Bradfield to Bristol. I'd like to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU to everyone who helped out. I thought it would be good to go mob handed (5 of us) and it proved to be a wise move.....even with 5 it was quite a struggle to shift the thing. Heavy is an understatement!! Steve, many thanks for the use of the van. Quite an honour to christen a brand new van with a heavy piece of machinery! Remember to thank your boss for letting us scratch & scuff the freshly boarded out rear......and also Kim for keeping an eye on us boys. Tim, Pete & Adam....thank you all so much for coming along to help out and getting stuck in. It was a proper teamwork affair. Tim, please also thank Molly for the supervisory role. ;D I really enjoyed today - it was proper fun from start to finish. Thank you all again - Retro Rides spirit was in full force today.....a small but epic adventure. Next stop - operation "All hands on deck" If anyone is feeling up for some shifting, lifting and moving next weekend (Saturday) then the aim is to try and get the lift installed. It'll need at least 6 of us, so if you're at a loose end, please let me know - your help will be greatly appreciated. I'll be there, Jrevillug will be there (thanks James) so if four or more others fancy a day playing with car lifts at Area 52, please step forward ;D Hopefully very soon, Area52 will have its own working car lift

Steve, many thanks for the use of the van. Quite an honour to christen a brand new van with a heavy piece of machinery! No problem at all chap, more than happy to help ;D the van has a little over 700 miles on the clock now and doesn't seem to have suffered at all Just got back in after dropping Adam off in Bath and a BK pitstop, will sort some snaps out later for the Area52 thread ;D
