Does this practice occur? I know it completely defeats the object, but in my head it looks awesome so I did a quick Selecta Can only find this one and its not quite right stance wise, needs to be lower on the front and raised at the back. Also on the same google image search, a beast of a Baja Split Bus. Matt

yes, it does occur and yes, it does look awsome.
Keep toying with the idea myself but ive sworn off beetles these days.

I want to see a baja bug without the front fenders. So kinda half beetle hot rod, half baja, slammed. Would be a standard hot rod beetle stance and front end setup, but with those inboard baja headlamps in the front panel, and half cut rear arches meeting the wing on the back with no rear deck and exposed engine...

This... + 1" chop = absolute WIN

Faster. Faster. Until the thrill of speed overcomes the fear of death.

^^what they said. Not come across slammed Baja's before, I'm feeling it though, have been recently thinking of sandrails done in a hot rod style.

Full details are being kept under wraps until completion....but rest assured it's gonna look just a little different to your normal sandrails! Anyone who has visited Area52 will have some idea of what to expect. Those who stayed over/stayed late on PlayDay2 will have an even better idea of what is to come ;D ;D ;D

Now this 'could' be quite nice if given some proper attention (like remove the cossie style whale tail etc...and lower it a lot more!) but in general, its got some serious potential not as keen on the newer wheels - I love CenterLine's but more on raised Baja's, buggys etc...not sure it suits the slammed look as much as the Fuch's??

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I can find no slammed baja's, apart from the OP's black one, on the webz... boo!

How much are beetles these days? Would this be possible on a budget of about £1000 or are parts too dear?

I wonder how much this was influenced by the old Tamiya Sand Scorcher?

It wasent that long ago the original HOT CAR "Humbug" lived in a front garden about 200 yds from where they hold the Bromley Pageant, still in its bronze paint.

Is it wrong of me that I really like the whale tail on it? Get rid of the frowning Klingon sun visor over the windscreen and it would look spot-on.

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

I actually like it , so shoot me.
Think with some detailing some cleaning and some stance work this could really work. ;D
