pics under bonnet? as bias says, panels are easily available, apart from inner wings and the obvious chasis rails. if they are bent then its gonna need some custom work to sort, but looking at it now all it needs is wongs, front crossmember, front panel and bonnet. if the doors open/shut fine then your ok

insurance would without doubt write it off, but as said the damage doesnt look that bad. from the previous pics, the wings and front panel looked a bit frayed around the edges anyway. The car is a nice plain colour, so easy to paint. the rest of the shell looks very good for a fez, so its deffo worth saving.

That is repairable i'm sure as i've straightened out cars with worse damage than that & as others have said the panels are still available & its an easy colour to repaint so get looking for the bits & get her back to her former glory!! Tim...

ah, Jesus, unlucky. Definitely repairable though. Time to get hunting for panels then I take it the accident was ice related?

curse word tidings mate. As has been said though, it looks fixable and the rest of the car looks good enough to make it worthwhile. Main thing is, are you ok?

Bridgwater, Somerset Drop me a PM if you want a hand with any of the repairs. Always easier with two people to figure stuff out/maintain positivity and my girlfriend's just bought one so it's time for me to learn how they work ;D

ah, yeah, it's front hinged isn't it? Brute force it is then... I've never had to do the insurance inspection thing. What happens? Man comes and says it's a writeoff (most likely I assume), then you get the option to buy it back from insurance? Then after repairs, it would be a VOSA identity check and a fresh MOT?

Ive never had to deal with one, its quite weird... kinda liking waiting for results from a test or something... just wanna know, I'm pretty sure it is right off... and yup front hinged. But once written off you can usually buy them back for about £50 or something like that. Then yup before the road... VOSA to check everything ! ! !

Cat D means no VOSA check needed (I think!) so thats a plus point! Hope you get it sorted as it looks a great project.

I bought my current daily as a Cat D write off from a salvage yard about 4/5 yr ago. Deffo no VOSA (VIC) check required. A little less sure but I think your MOT is still valid too, however I got no MOT docs with mine so had to put it through a fresh MOT. In the scheme of things I think you mean 'CAT D write off ) Get it bought back and use it as a chance to learn some bodywork skills. Good Luck

To be honest, a writeoff is to be expected.. So a Cat D is the best possible outcome. Doesn't that just mean it's not economical to repair professionally? actually, just checked.. Category A Insurance Write Off - the vehicle must scrapped and no parts or components can be sold other than for scrap. Amounts vary but the scrap value rarely covers the cost of recovery and delivery to a scrap yard. Category B Insurance Write Off - the vehicle must not be used again but non- structural and roadworthy parts and components may be recovered for use in other vehicles. Care must be taken to ensure that they are not critical components with important safety functions. Category C Insurance Write Off - the vehicle is repairable but the parts and labour would exceed the value of the car. This is a tricky situation as there are plenty of amateur and professional mechanics who could use second hand parts to repair these vehicles at much lower prices than the list costs for parts and labour. Category D Insurance Write Off - the vehicle is economically repairable but other factors are involved that cause the insurer to declare the vehicle a write off. Perhaps the replacement car hire is too costly or it will take too long for a specialist part to be delivered. Category X Insurance Write Off - the vehicle is easily repairable and may even be still roadworthy. So a Cat D essentially means it's perfectly repairable but they've written it off because they don't reckon they can source the panels for it easily. As I said, gimme a shout if you fancy a hand

That's an easy fix and you'll probably have a better car at the end of it.
How did the accident happen??
