When the huge OEM back-box fell off a few years ago, I replaced it with 2 bits of 65mm stailess pipe which sounded great at high revs but had a bloody awful drone at everyday speeds. I stumbled on the old box amongst some curse word behind the shed so I took it to work to cut up and throw in the scrap bin. Much to my suprise, the bottom half was stainless and pristine so I set about it with the grinder to see what was left inside. Before......... Most of the internal pipework had disintergrated so all the curse word was removed and 2 bits of 2" stainless were put in to form the outlets. I folded some 20 guage (1mm) stainless sheet to form the lid and added some 2 1/2" o/d polished tube for tips. Before I started it weighed a ridiculous 17 kilos It now weighs a better but still hefty 10 kilos

Love it mate, I did prefer the wires though but I think thats just because I always wanted a car on wires. Stocksy, hydro's and wires for you next year then!! I like the wires as well but they started to fall to bits, when I tried to tighten the spokes the just snapped. Everyone I know that's rolled wires over 15" dia has had problems with loose spokes and wheel wobble. My Chrysler still has wires BTW that's awesome skills dude, taking an old piece of junk and crafting it into that lovely back box gets major kudos in my book! Looks perfect! Cheers It's only because I'm to tight to buy a decent one I made a pair from scratch recently if your interested The build is at the bottom of page here

Oh noes !! I asume it's saveable ? Back on the road in an hour I've replaced the offending top mount and added a much heavier washer to prevent this happening again, the other side will be done before the new panels go on. I've got a replacement bonnet and O/S wing which are getting painted soon and fitted eventually

This is NOT helping my 7 series hankering! Good work on the repairs, that's a super quick turn around.

This is NOT helping my 7 series hankering! Good work on the repairs, that's a super quick turn around. Go on, you know you want one It was patched up with big washers so I could get it back to work then it took about 40 mins to change the suss top mount.

Yeow, I had that happen on my 525 touring just before I sold it as well.
Dude if you need any parts just give me a PM, ripping apart a 735 manual in burgundy red.
