I think you'd be in danger of making it look a bit of a shed.
I think someone earlier suggested using yer black spray to tidy up the trim. Make it look as good and tidy as possible, while saving your money for a nice set of wheels.
You could maybe make it yer own by blacking the bonnet, but thats a bit old hat now, what about the roof?
Lowering is good, and as has been mentioned may not prove to be at all expensive if ya feel up to it yerself.

what markbognor says is true.
I would remove the badges, and any trim which can come off. Then colour code stuff like door handles, mirrors and the like with rattle cans. Can be done nicely if you do it right. Lower it by adjusting the torsion bars and cutting the front coils or buying cheap lowering ones as appropriate (and I'm not sure about legality in France?) clay bar, good polish, plenty of wax (or sealer) good clean up on the inside too. keep an eye out for some decent budget wheels, there must be some whacky 80s ones or something you can get to fit?

Had a read-up on French MOT and chopped or modified springs is a no no. Nothing wrong with lowering if the springs and shocks are both changed. Dang.
There are a few 3*98 wheels about. But not many available without a car attached.

I agree. This is cheap and easy stuff, that everyone can do, and it can't go wrong. Works on everything from Fiat 127 to Scania 141...
