I always like "family" engine swaps. Seems like more thought goes into it than just the usual "stick a Pinto in it / stick a Rover V8 in it / Stick a SB Chevy in it" delete as applicable thing. Some stuff is radically wrong and therefore decidedly right, but to me that Merc would seem more fitting with a Chrysler V8 in it... I've seen far nicer front engine jobs on the Corvair than that Cuban abortion. Some nice ones indeed. Apparently the Corviar body is just the right dimensions to go on a G body frame...

Two diesel powered Scimitars.One with a Peugeot 2.5 lump and one with a Perkins from a Sherpa van... The engineering director here uses his 2.5 TDS powered scimitar day to day! Is that the one that was in PPC magazine a while back? anyone remember that or have the issue, been looking for it for a while

Can't have a thread about unusual engine swaps without a mention for the legend that is The Beast ! 27 litres of V12 Rolls Royce Merlin power, Spitfire engine minus the superchargers! ;D have you ever heard this running it sounds like a bag of bolt going round in a washing machine lol Lol,yes it does,its all gear whine and magnetos.Probably never revs fast enough to sound like it should.

Is that the one that was in PPC magazine a while back? anyone remember that or have the issue, been looking for it for a while I think theres a few Scims with the 2.5 TDS fitted.Its a good conversion,just causes a few installation problems with the length of the straight six.

Coolest vehicle in this thread, hands down. Forget the modern caddys and all that plastic ilk, here is the bomb! I did a Ford in Ford conversion on my old Anglia van when I dropped a BDA into it.

Hardly the wrong engine in that anglia van though, BDA's and fords have always gone together
as for the beast sounding bad, its cos its idling mostly, its a tank engine not a spitfire engine griffon rather than merlin i think but even in a tank it would have been geared down to shift the weight so it would have revved higher more often

yep saw that. south xfrica does alot of sb v8s into jag,merc,bmw & essex V6 into stuff.

Here in NZ and in OZ there are plenty of Rotarys into everything like Datsuns and Toyotas and even the odd V8 into whatever it will fit in, not to mention big turbo engine swaps!! Even funnier when its not even the right type of vehicle lol
