I merely stumbled upon this whilst looking at old black cars. I have been looking for a steampunk rod or kustom for a while so this made me happy I havent found any more pics but from the Flickr page I'm guessing it was at the Good Guys Des Moines 2009 show www.flickr.com/photos/26467101@N08/sets/72157621090904216/

Your car is not 'epic', this thread is not 'epic'....the OCEAN is epic, the UNIVERSE is epic.... please stop misusing this word!! It would appear Hotrods are the new VWs - aint fashion funny! '69 BUICK LESABRE 350

kinda defeats the object of being steam punk if its not running a steam engine, i'd rod a Doble steam car if i was going in that direction.

That first one is just champion. Absolutely nothing needing to be fixed on that IMHO. Especially with an inline six and a collection of carbs poking out of the bonnet!

'Steampunk' is a style..... not a means of motive power. Here..... have a 'steampunk' PC. It's a bit like where 'goth' meets heavy engineering.

William Gibson approves. Funnily enough I was only thinking about something like this yesterday or the day before in the bath. My idea had more "Munsters Coach" in it.

Agreed! Do like the look of it though. 'Steampunk' is a style..... not a means of motive power. Here..... have a 'steampunk' PC. It's a bit like where 'goth' meets heavy engineering. Steampunk is only becoming a "style" now its fashionable, there are plenty of steam powered projects around and plenty of steamy people still working with boilers and condensers, sticking a few bits of brass and some cog wheels on stuff does not make it Steampunk, much like painting your face white and wearing Panda eye make up does not make you a Goth, or growing you hair long make you a metalhead. Steampunk was originally a "what if" kinda thing, What if Victorian engineers had built a robot? or a computer? or a space ship? If a Victorian engineer had built a Hotrod, it would have a steam engine and the brassy decorations would be mostly removed as superfluous to the business of going fast (much like rodders these day take off extra weight) although some of the decoration would still be there as it would have been cast in as things were made that way. The word "steampunk" is thrown at anything with brass glued on it these days. i like the second rod, but it looks more like dieselpunk to me.
