Lady Hardcore & I have for quite a while harbored a desire for a Campervan and, with a busy car-show season planned would be most interested in actually owning one As much as I'd love a Porsche-engined Splitty on Air-ride there's no chance of being able to afford one any time soon, or a Bay for that matter hence my question - what else is there? I'm not adverse to doing a bit of work (if the price is right) so mechanicals, welding, rust repairs, paint all not a red light but ideally not all of them (got enough 'projects' already!) - also the parts would need to be available in some sense, I'm not up to fabricating my own waterpumps yet.. So, not massive, definitely not modern, tax-exempt would be nice and preferably < £1k (less if needing loads, could do a bit more if something complete/running really takes my fancy) - what ya think? Patina'd yank? Japanese 'surprise' van? Some pics for your trouble: Almost perfect No idea what this is, looks awesome! £1million Taunus would be AWESOME - never seen one for sale tho.. Poss a bit big but 70's Chevys are FTW Er...? Thanks for looking ;D HC (& Lady HC)

Transit van, bedford CF, most of em are cheaper than VW's for the same condition, ebay is full of camper vans usually.
My mk2 transit was 500 quid, needs work but is solid and thats what i paid for, mk1 transit could be tax free and are not expensive, although not as cheap as they used to be, panels can be gard to find for the front but mechanicals are easy to source and upgrade..

you should be able to get your hands on a VW T25 camper for not to silly money, I bought one back in 2008 with m,o,t and tax with 2.0 air cooled for £750, now it's no show stopper and yes I have had to spend time and money on it but did all the work myself, think it's worth every penny, just keep your eyes open

That looks sweet dude! Just the ticket! Can one be snagged for a bag o'sand tho? More finds of yummyness: Bedford CA Camper Mk1 Transit's seem to come up every once in a while for reasonable monies ( one on eBay now - half a V8 FTW!) but I'm not really feeling the Motorhome stylings. Another one - looks nice. £775 with MoT til July Hmm.. EDIT: Sorry PopUp - I type too slow! I'm on ur bus re. Transits. Do they all have the big 'Motorhome-style' tops? Or are there normal van-looking models? Ta!

Commers are reasonably rare, but they do come up. Not sure on price though... they're reasonably unknown to the masses so have no 'tax' on them that I know of. There's an awesome slammed one somewhere but I cant find a pic ATM

That is immense but I doubt I could afford to use it, let alone buy it! £1500 would be absolutely top end (if Benzo ever sells) & would have to be pretty much ready to roll for that money..

I have this taking up space in the garden. If you squint little it could pass for a Taunus.... its a Hanomag Mercedes. Once the outstanding paperwork and ownership issues are cleared up, I will be offering it FOC to any RetroRider who is brave enough to come and get it.

Sounds like you need flower power! Though she's not tax exempt... Not after £1000, though does have a few issues. Not sure how many as she's currently with a bloke who's meant to be getting rid of some of them. Probably about time I checked to see how he's getting on... It's less hippyish inside. 2.3-litre, 4-speed + OD so grunty and able to get a bit of a pace on - unlike many campers.

Being looking for an excuse to post this picture for a while.... but getting slightly more on track again(if not value but there are some J-Tin bargains out there sure I'm seen one of these recently for reasonable money.. Or alternatively look at some of the'mid size' vans and convert one yourself - thinking Mazda E2200/Bedford Midi/Hyundai H100 etc, reasonably priced(compared to VW or Hiace) depends whether you want an older base vehicle or more modern and probably cheaper! However for those that dare to dream..... the Toyota RV-2!!!!

I'll be looking to off load this shortly, fiat 900t Amigo. Has a power loss issue that I haven't had time to fix but I've ruled out anything serious (like head/ gasket etc) Comes with hob, grill, sink one double bed, one single bed and a child bunk. 240v hook up and a kenlowe hot start. It's really clean, has tax and MOT ( I wouldn't expect any problems for the next test either)and with it's fault comes in on budget. Or I can put the steels back on for a price drop. Was going to wait until it was fully sorted then ebay it, but if it's good to go......
