Hello all, thought I'd show my other daf as well, why not
The powerplant out:
The car needed a new set of clutch shoes, which were duly fitted
More work done this weekend: Engine back in and running briefly Exhaust replaced and back in Fuel tank in (but that might need to come out again) Oh and we put some new wings on!
Jobs left to do: Sort something out with the passenger door, the top is rather poo-like Weld up the bonnet Take glass out of spare bootlid and assess rust issues Check fuel line, she's not drawing fuel from the tank. Spray anything thats needed Put her back together and do MOT like things
Well you put your hands together get on your knees and start praying. ;D
These share the same wings as the 44 model and the 55 model and you can get repo fibreglass wings which I believe is what Onne used. Oh and yes the clutch is bonkers but it does work nice no drag at junctions but they do like to debond there shoes which results in permanant drive which I have experienced and will express is not fun!
Looks like the derbyshire DAF centre have been doing some really good work recently.
p.s. do I spy that extremely rare thing of a DAF flat twin that has no oil leak ;D
Well, I'm not 100% sure what I've messed up, but perhaps the pipe has come undone? It was a bit of a faff to get the tank in with the length of pipe left. Glad you got them bolts out Paul, fingers crossed mine will be better seeing that it's a car that has been on the road very recently. Wings are Honeybourne Mouldings, not expensive at £56 a side, they do all sorts of vehicles for reasonable rates.
Regarding the leaks I'd rather not say anything just yet, the engine has not been run since '99....
