That's a great shame, but I understand your reasoning, I gave up racing around 13 years ago and have only now started to look through the cars I have from that time. I moved to a part of the country where the nearest circuit is a good couple of hours away so it wasn't practical to continue. What sort of price do you attach to the crawler and what sort of bodyshell did it have? don't know what to ask for it, make me a reasonable offer for it okay ? its 1:8 scale so don't know what body's you like, it weighs abt 3 kilo so p&p from the netherlands to UK will be added .

A victim of eBay again, this turned up. It's a Marui Super Wheelie Jeep Golden Eagle from about 1983. It's a tiddler compared to my mates TXT Marui have long since stopped making RC stuff. This is a step up from toy grade cars but not got the quality feel of contemporary Tamiya products, at the time it would have been around half the price though. Still an interesting subject in great condition. Had to paint more tyre lettering again. Sent from my hovercraft is full of eels using proboards

I love this old thread! First I will say I have two passions, Ford Capri and RC cars! As of Feb 2017 I have about 40-45 car and projects, half of those are vintage Tamiya (pre 1991) I allways wanted a rc car when I was kid, but my family could not afford that, so I looked throu Tamiya and Kyosho guide books from 85' and up. After the confirmation at age 15 in 91', I bought my self my first rc car ever, a Kyosho Pug 205 Turbo 16 IN 1:12 scale. That was a rocket, but sadly crashed a couple of monts later at full speed into a concret wall head on, nothing much left, still have the bits, will restore it one day, but they are getting rare these days.. Reason of the crash was loss of signal. Same as this one Over the next couple of years I got a Tamiya Celica Gr.b secondhand from a classmate, a secondhand Tamiya Lunchbox, a Tamiya Hornet and a brand new Clod Buster which I converted from a BullHead. This is one of the pictures I've got from 91' From a work mate I got a Tamiya TL01 with a badly worn Mustang Cobra R body, rebuilt the chassis and put on a Carson Zakspeed body that I made into a drifter... In 2004 my dad passed away, so in the beginning of 2005 I decided to build a scale rig as custom made scale rigs started to pop up and I got an idea from on of the big ones over there. Tamiya TLT was to rig to use as those had axles most builders used back then. The chassis I made out of a 5mm aluminium sheet, cut with a hacksaw and filed by hand. Tires was HPI Geolandar on some 2.2 wheels, 12 years later on those tires are still available belive it or not! First version of this rig got Bronco body, Thunder Tiger tires and leaf springs Norwegian constitution day May 17th 2006 or 2007
Four versions later it evolved into a Jeep and sold to a mate
Next 4x4 project was called Project Flames, made mostly of parts that I had.. Chassis was homemade 3mm aluminium, TLT axles, TLT shocks, a hacked gearbox from a TL01 copy HBX and a Proline body
Version 2 of Project flames had a MFM chassis, Axial SCX10 gearbox and portal hubs intended for Tamiya CR01, modified to fit the TLT axles
Number 3 project was a 4x4 Lunchbox, parts was 6mm aluminium chassis, TLT axles, touring car shocks, Traxxas Stampede gearbox-later Axial SCX. Trailer was made out of styrene and bits of my trashed body from my first Lunchbox.
Then my mate wanted a rig to tail along on long trails, so we made a deal, me getting his Nikko collection-me making him a custom rig. Chassis was this time CNC cut 5mm aluminium after my drawings, TLT axles, Tamiya Blitzer Beetle body, scale engine in the rear and scale trailer. First version of the car
Then it was repainted with the styrene trailer, lid on trailer opens and working leaf springs. Paint was Forcus RS green
My first gen Axial AX10 was turned into a Beetle
Me driving my bug in a scale comp
Diden't go that flawlessly lol
My hunger for a Ford saw me building a 09' Ford F150 with a Bruiser frame, Axial SCX gearbox, Tamiya HL axles, 4 link up front and leaf springs in rear, 1.9 RC4WD Dirtgrabber tires and some other reused parts. Body was a New Bright one that I imported from US.
And my current project, Axial SCX10 with Bronco CGR body, mostly built on used/traded parts
Also had a Tamiya Scania, but sold it due cost of building such rig to my liking. Had invested 750 quid, and my truck interest dabbed off, so was time to sell it Some vintages My Blackfoot, needs a resto in the future My Monster Beetle #1, needs a full resto T-Bucket Hot Rod project, is now in bits My orginal Tamiya FAV #1 Tamiya Wild One, currently midway into a resto Have several on road projects, including this slammed Beetle based on a Tamiya M04 chassis and Tamiya Beetle body With scale engine I have much much more, but you get the idea Currently only own 2 nitro cars, both being HPI Savage X 4.1, I got for very little work. Cheers Richard

I've done a few more cars I think but here's a picture of Sir Barrington Pointybeak Yellow feathers on the roof of the last Sand Scorcher I finished. Predictable boxart I'm afraid. Next one will be custom. Sadly it's been trodden on or similar so it's currently being reshaped. Nice to not have to strip paint off it. Another early Rough Rider on its way too. Never thought I'd get one of these things but the originals are criminally cheap now. Less than the re releases. Sent from Monday using proboards

Well I had a parcel delivery... Despite the poor but accurate listing and the rubbish pictures, what I ended up getting was a nice Mk1 Rough Rider in great condition apart from the destroyed body. A fresh set of wheels and tyres and a repaired original body like so... Then a bit of orange and some stickers. Repairs to original body (paint stripped in brake fluid took 24h) Sent from my stash of things using proboards

Ive had this for a while, i rebuilt the chassis when i first got it but didnt paint the body until today. Its a Losi 22 Vega Elite. On the surface not too exiting, not very vintage or retro either. The original Vega body was horrid, so I replaced it with a Losi XXX illuzion body which makes it look a little older, but still nothing that special. It has no rear wing as i masked it up and ran out of paint. Remove the body, and we have this. All alloy and carbonfibre goodness with full range of upgrades. Which is why i bought it, its a lovely piece of work.

First thing I really consistently raced was an M01. In the classes I currently race, I reckon they'd still be competitive. Delicate steering parts were the only problem and nowadays parts availability can be a bit hit or miss. Picked up this beauty the other day. Mid-early Team Associated RC10, not a brilliant ebay listing and 2 minutes up the road from home. Too far gone to be a pristine resto but with very minor work will be a great runner and a nice display car. Just a little distraction from the serious business of Tamiya stuff. . Calibra TA02 Then turning this: Into this: so i'm not afraid to use it. This turned up... which I'm definitely too afraid to use ... and I need to finish this: But I need to do some real car stuff too along with grown up adult kitchen fixing and stuff what grown ups do.

Parts don't really exist for this anymore from what I've managed to find!

You're best picking up entire cars when they turn up and get the aluminium steering (£30 ish)
Aside from a set of ballraces and a bunch of money on bodyshells and wheels and tyres you should be ok.

I had a Team Associated stadium truck when I was younger, and dad had a Losi one. They were awesome, I should dig them out again. Dad also has one of these somewhere. It's berserk, a proper gearbox with 3 forward gears and reverse, multi-leaf springs, metal axles, it's basically a proper little Hilux! Tamaya Hilux 4x4

It would do about 40, which we worked out by following it in a range rover on an old airfield. The leaf springs didn't make it too controllable on bumpy stuff though! Just look at it! It blew me away as a kid, and still does now. Thinking about it, I'm fairly sure it has freewheeling front hubs too.
