Don't get me wrong, I LOVE lowered cars with the right stance, but in that pesky thing called The Real World™, if said lowered car can't clear a speed hump or go round a corner properly, it ain't worth bup-diddly-upkuss. You can consult your internal dialogue all you want, but let's face it, deep, deep down in the pit of your stomach - ................yyyyyyyou know I'm right. If you've all got time to burn replacing sumps and re-aligning your suspension geometry and tracking every couple of months then that's up to you, but as a person who's had enough lowered cars and the f*cked-up sumps/wheels to prove it, personally speaking I've got better things to worry about. Anyone who thinks that repairing splits and cracks in a sump on a regular basis is acceptable really ought to take a good long look in the mirror. That's probably livable on a car that's only used on a limited mileage, but on a daily driver? Come on. Commme onnn... Here's a thought: get the camber, caster and toe settings (and while you're at it the corner weightings and check the tyre pressures) checked on your radically-lowered cars every month, especially when you've clouted a few speed humps, potholes etc. and see if your suspension set-up hasn't been compromised. You don't do this already? Hope nothing falls off/breaks at speed. Whether y'all bothered if your cars handle properly if they're severely lowered is one thing but like it or not - unless you only ever drive on a straight road, your car will have to take a corner at some point...

I haven't realigned my suspension geometry or tracking on my daily driver for two years (approx 14k miles) - since i first lowered it lots... Haven't broken anything or had anything fall of yet. People don't think my car gets over speed bumps (trust me I've had plenty of people ask me about that). It does. Commmmme onnnnn Not all of us have had enough.

Boosting the performance of an engine will require more frequent maintenance. Things will wear out quicker.
Increased / extreme camber will wear out tyres quicker.
Investing in a nice expensive paint job will require frequent polishing and care when parking.
If you don't want to be bothered looking after a car, Amazo, go buy a new Focus or something, it obviously isn't for you.

Amazo I rarely 'bite' at threads like this but your posts are becoming increasingly tiresome. If you've been there, done that and don't want to do it any more then good for you but I (& many others) continue to enjoy impractically low cars and intend to continue doing so. I'm not looking for an argument - disagreeing over matters of taste is completely normal but your constant preaching is annoying me. If you think something is better then start threads to show us it & we'll make up our minds about what we do / do not like. Either that or goooooo aawwwwwaaaayyyyy...

On the subject of Matt Mercs, this has just appeared on Becker's Flicr account: Hopefully more pics from Bodensee will be appearing in the next few days and this 190E will be in them.

you make your own compromises. Its down to what you are prepared to accept. That goes for all choices of stance, engine size, equipment or lack thereof... Right up until the point you make it undrivable in any circumstance and then its just a trailer queen and that's as uncool as it gets. I am with the folks wondering what the fuss is about. The bumper irons and primer like paint make it look WIP. I have no hate for it, I'd just like to see it finished

Well, if you like it, go to the northern parts of Sweden...seems like about every 18-year old here is driving an hard slammed stacklight, S-class or W123... And most of them are unfortunately only bought to be run down to curse word, owners brush painting them, jumping on the roof, bonnet and boot, kicking on the doors and wings, nah, I've personally had enough (so now I have a hard time with every benz with too much of a slam, even if it's done seriously)...
That's just my personal opinions so I guess that I have a hard time having any opinions at all on this vehicle (which I understand is very different to the ones I use to see)...

Many years ago I changed my driving style to cope with rising fuel prices; I have now reached the stage where I am contemplating keeping my eyes shut in order to lower wind resistance.
