cheers bud, you too.also, just out of interest, what date was your car registered?wonder what the latest surviving mk1 is? My Granada was registered in March 1977... I think the last Mk1 Granada's were made in 1977 and the last ones were registered late in that year (August/September?) on S-plates... If you wanted a Granada late in 1977 you would've got a corking deal on a Mk1 as the Mk2 had just come out...!

The mk1 granada is one of my favourite fords .make sure you have some sort of alarm and immobiliser fitted I keep seeing ford,s stolen via the Stolen Oldskool Fords group on facebook www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!/group.php?gid=37353481811&ref=ts and this site www.stolenclassics.co.uk/board/ . I look forward to seeing the progress . Copy and paste the facebook link for Stolen Oldskool Fords

Yours would be one of the last R-registered Mk1 Granada's for sure... With regards to security I don't even think an alarm is much of a deterant these days, people just seem to ignore them no matter what is happening, the gold old British 'turn a blind eye' mentality! I am toying with the idea of fitting a tracker to my Granada so if it does go missing I can, ermm, track it...!!!

yeah, thats probably a decent idea too.trouble is, not having a garage to put it in, its a bit vunrable at the minute.would take the coil lead off or something, but they'd prob just load it onto a truck.b@#$*%ds!

ok, having had the car a little while now, i have updates! not ignoring you grifterkid, ive only just checked the thread! so, having managed to fix the non working fuel gauge(dodgy wiring), ive just enjoyed it really, using it every day.have made quite a few long journeys in it(london at least twice), and its been fine.but, today, its been retired for the winter.out of mot, and needing work, its gone into 'project' mode!made a start today, and this is how it went. parked it in the garage(only just fits length wise) i wanted to take the front wings, bonnet and boot lid off so i can blast them back to bare metal to get the little bits of rust out, so had a go at the wings first.bumper and lights off unfortunalty thats as far as i got with that as one bolt on the wing is totalled, so needs chopping, and i didn't have the grinder. so then decided to be brave, and have a go at taking the vinyl roof off, and i knew the 'C' pillars were 'a bit' crumbly. this is the result. and the other side could be worse i suppose?! then the rest of the roof, which looks nastier in the photo than it actually is started taking sunroof out too, but ran outta time.will have another go tommorow i think, and take the grinder.oh, and look for a welder!!! and this one my missis took a few weeks back.wishful thinking perhaps?!

V888 submission fee paying enquiry to DVLA should establish its history if been registered as ex-police car.

Ive managed to get down to the garage again, and spent a bit more time, so ive managed to get both wings off and found 'the holes!' knew they were there on each side, but didn't think i'd be able to see the carpet from the outside! drivers side passanger side also found what appears to be the old ariel tucked in there too both wings off the wings themselves look pretty salvagable, although oddly the drivers side generally is much more rusty than the passanger side.still, nothing i cant handle?! theres a few little other holes in the inner wings, but nothing too bad.gonna get down there tommorow with a wire wheel and clean them all up, then get a bit of primer on them, then figure out the welding. picture of the removed parts next to the O so sensible parts car I bought! and SUPPRISE! for the missis when she got home!followed by, "whats the point in having a garage if......" ;D more updates soon hopefully

Nice to see prgress being made on that Granada... It is most certainly one of those cars that needs to be kept alive! Those C-pillars do look a bit nasty but with a little determination they will be solid once again I'm sure... This site may be helpful for parts: www.oldcars.de/shop/index_en.htm so have a peek on there... Failing that try the banger boys...!!! It is a sad fact that they probably have the most used parts for Mk1 Granada's... Good luck with the project, please do keep us all posted...

Any news on the old barge?! I am sure once you've started stripping things down progress slows a bit when you see the size of the task at hand but I am sure once you get the bit between your teeth all will roll along nicely...

Ive not actually seen any pics of you car 'whole' until reading your thread...once your Cortina is sorted you need to this one back together again. Seems such a shame seeing it in bits...
