It's been ages since I've been on here. There are loads of wicked things going on in sheds at the moment - kudos to you all! Started a new job so I've been pretty busy with that - but I have managed to do some stuff to the fleet - sort of..
Got well bored with the Benly so didn't touch it for ages, but eventually started again and forgot where I left off. I span it over and herd a clunck which wasn't good. Turns out I got the valve timing out - woops. Valves in pistons. Yuk. Anyway, my impact screwdriver turned up so I took it to bit's again. The first thing I noticed was one of the rockers was snapped - not good. Anyway.
A little bit of heat and pursuasion and the oil pump finaly let go.
Oh... what's this?
Yep - the remaining cirlcip, a dirty great bit washer, the other half of the snapped rocker, and a big ol' dowl I didn't even know was in there. Glad I got this little lot out.
I smashed the rings into the pistons a bit trying to get the barrels on and they wouldn't retract or move properly in the grooves so I had to clean up the spares. Turns out they were really good, so new rings and they're in. I stripped the head and took all the valves out again as well to check they were all straight and span/moved freely in the guides and seled when they sat. The lump is back together now, locktight in all the right places, new gaskets all over, new rings, all timed up and turning over really smoothly on the crank. Well chuffed actually - the timing is spot on so it should run a treat. Waiting for a day off so I can get it back in the bike.
