;The man behind this: this: and this: Is teaching me how to draw cars!!! For those that don't know , I'm currently in my 2nd year of and Automotive design degree at Coventry uni and Mr Mann is tutoring the auto styling classes Really nice bloke too very helpful, even though he did draw all over one of my sketches ;D He brought in some of his work today which were full of interesting stuff like the TR7sketches and the MG SV thing.

Cool! Let him know how much we appreciate his work. My neighbour had a TR7 when I was about 10 (27 years ago....) and I still want one.

Useful guy Mr Mann! The 3rd years are currently designing a BMW mini based 'Mini Marcos' and he's been giving them a hand. Shame we don't get more guys from industry coming in, it's generally well recieved and welcomed. David Brown is the head of the 3rd years and is good friends with Harris, they used to work together at Austin Rover. I think David had a lot of input into this Maestro proposal...... More on this excellent an well known site. www.austin-rover.co.uk/

I'm definitely well chuffed!, for the first few weeks of the module he didn't actually announce him self as Harris Mann, he just wandered round helping people, most of us just presumed he was a teacher aid Its only when he brought in drawings that i saw his name. It is certainly nice to get someone helping from out side the uni from industry I willl see what i can do (although not for £2.50 i can find a far cheaper pint) ;D

That is so cool! When I was at Cov, nothing like this happened.... Who's running the course now, and is Graeme Vanner still there?

How about Ivan Drummond?
I'm guessing that Jenny Hann & Chris James are no longer there?

Ivan drummond left at the end of last year for bigger and better things! As for Jenny Hann & Chris James can't say i've come accross them either. Neil Burtley is teaching the autostyling with mr Mann so i have access to a great deal of knowledge and experiance!

90 year old Graeme Vanner is alive and I can get hold of footage of him trampolening
And Harris Man drives a Citroen Traction Avant!!!

Harris Mann eh? That's fantastic, very cool to be working with somebody of his heritage regardless what you think of his creations. I wanted to do this course when I was at college, very envious of you

Hmm.
I guess this thread is probably the best place to ask!
Erm, can any of you designer-y types answer a question for me then?
Who designed the famous and much-used Marina doorhandle? As seen on Range Rovers, the Lotus Esprit, Allegro, err Marina and goodness knows what else...
It is one of those things that I have always wondered! ;D

It is one of those things that I have always wondered! ;D I've often wondered this, I seem to notice door handles for some reason. Almost every new non-prestige car nowadays has actual 'handles' (like VW's always have) as opposed to interesting pull/push designs... A lot of the 70's Bertone designs used to have similar handles to the Marina one, wonder if they copied? Cheers, Greg.
