I'll be honest - before the show I was in two minds. I last came to gaydon, I was worried about 550 miles round trip to Yeovil in a car that has leaf springs all round, no stereo or soundproofing, and can't do more than 50 mph
But it was so worth it Really glad I came, it was awesome, will deffo be there next year
Thank you very much.
(and thank you whoever's pogo stick it was that I gather I wouldn't get off. my apologies )
Right, Huge thanks to Bruce for the loan of the battery to start the wartburg and thanks to Rob for jump leads- it was the AA without you guys and to Christian (bruiser capri) and Rob for travelling home with me incase I needed another jump.
Big thanks to BC for his impecable "beer o'clock" timing on friday night and for providing a slap up sunday breakfast thanks mate
Thanks to Leigh and SJ for stopping at the fuel station and making sure I got it started OK too and SJ for pushing it too!
Thanks to Reanimation and "the boss" for the loan of the sharp knife (couldn't do a caramalised red onion stir fry without it!).
Thanks to Dave and his magic box of speckled hen on friday too and to Tom for the bootleg cider
Thank one and all, the organisers have surpassed themselves yet again
If I missed you out, just thanks dudes, you were all great- friends new and old
Massive cheers!! to Ian for sorting the track action again, helping us with our awning in the dark on friday, providing spare gas, and finally letting me get into the driving seat of his Monza. Good to see you mate too!!
Great to see some old faces from EA!
First time for mrs.aux and she loved it, even talking about sorting out a track-car.... she is also asking why there was no female drivers on the track?
Mike-bmw-drifty bloke on the track... had me grinning! Colonel K also, I was grinning until I was coated in a dust-cloud a few times... mmmm... gritty..
Been to all, best one since Mallory in my opinion.
Just got home, so thats enough gushing, time for a wind-down beer.
This was my first Gathering ;D I didnt contribute as i sold my Mini a couple of Months ago and only have a fairly new daily at present
Though I'm hoping to have another Retro next year so i can join in then ;D
But as a Spectator i have to say i Loved it Biggg Thumbs Up ;D ;D ;D
The Cars Were Fabb
The Track Action was Great
And the RR Team had obviously worked very hard to make the event what it was Brilliant!!!! ;D ;D ;D
I do have three little critisims though but not reflecting on RR
Food Think the choice was a little limited Most Events usually have Burgers vans i really could of done a Bacon Butty when i got there but there was only Pizza,Jacket Spuds or later a sweet van and ice creams and the spud van ran out of food
Toilets Yeh gotta agree us girls need to sit down and boy there were some very messy boys in attendance Try aiming down the loo next time guys instead of the floor and all over the seats
Museum Entrance Fee
I think Haynes are really Mean and Cheapskates
I used to have a Mini and went to the Gaydon Mini Festival every year ;D
The Motor Heritage Centre at Gaydon sell slightly higher price tickets during events that cover admittance to both the show and their museum ;D
Haynes Should Adopt a Similar Thing i Think they are a bit tightfisted the ammount of customers the Gathering brings its a bit of a disgrace they expect you to pay to go into the museum aswell
We didnt bother as weve seen it before anyhow but had we of it would of cost £14.50 each whereas gaydon event tickets are £11 each to cover the show and museum entrance
Haynes really should take a leaf out of Gaydon,s Book
No Reflection on the gathering though that was Brill and well worth the money ;D ;D ;D
Great weekend, 6 hour trek each way was knackering though. Cheers to Edd for croissants Cheers to Bruce and the rest of the Area 52 guys for thier hospitality and loan of the battery for the rocket car. Thanks to Rob, Nathan and the gang for thier hospitality and entertainment. I don't think Stu will ever live that down ;D Just a big thankyou to everyone really
awesome time again for sure ...real good to see the usual faces, again many thanks to keefy, hotwire( i still love you guys )....a big big thanks to BC for sorting the track out and keeping it together !! I'm still smiling as its my first time out in the merc slider and now i have to take it further as it appears sliding is a lot of fun , cheers for the words of encouragement from the colonel , thanks to judgie(is that right) for scooping up what i left of my benz on track ;D ;D ;D.....only one downer for me !!...you know what I'm talking about HW and Keefy other than that a perfect weekend , defo going on friday next year !!!.....peace out much love goodnight !!

Like everyone else has said, huge thanks to HW, Keefy, BC and the rest of the team (sorry I don't know all your names) who worked so hard to make it such a great weekend. This is the best show of the season by a mile, roll on next year
I'd just like to add my thanks to the already long list. Thanks to the whole organising team, to everyone that came, and to everyone that helped out after my mishap. It was yet another fantastic event that I enjoyed even more than last year, it really is the only "car show" (its so much more if you ask me) I bother putting effort in to make it to.
Only thing I'd change is getting the food van back over at the camp site for food sat evening and butties Sun morning. If its not possible mebbe I'll help organise a butty fund that everyone chips into so we can have a sort of joint breakfast before the show next year - someone remind me of that idea when RRG 2011 rolls around
i'm with Phoenix on the on site food. a few of the chaps i camped with didn't bring any provisions as last year we had onsite food, plus a morning brew is very important after such a heavy drinking weekend ;D
i'm gonna need to get my game on for next year methinks ;D
