Back in '89 Nissan decided they need to turbocharge and supercharge their Micra, as if one wasn't enough. The result was this, the March Super Turbo which was available in Japan but not over here.
The engine was their 930cc inline 4, fuel injected, supercharged and turbocharged, producing 110hp at 6400rpm.
Shame they never brought them over here because it looks like the usual crazy banzai-japcar-on-speed that you'd see whoopin' ass in films like The Canonball Run. It could do 60 in 7.5 seconds which must have made it pretty mental back in '89.
Anyway, I think this might be where the supercharger came from that Ratlook swapped me, so if anyone has any more info then that would be cool. The internet is a wealth of information about everything except this ;D
The man to ask is Ed on the micra sports club, very few were ever imported to the Uk as little as 30 and this blokes got 2 of them and is very knowledgeable on the subject! ask here: www.micra.org.uk edit: just found a vid of Eds ST at Pod beating a Supra ;D Hirst your interior shot is actually of a standard micra/march, the real Turbos got an even more funky interior :
and i saw one at the pod, peered in the engine bay about to laugh at the chavvy induction kit and stuff.....hang on thats a turbo and thats a and wait let me just stand back see what the car actually is.........
That brochure pic amazes me, I absolutely love old Japanese car brochures, especially the optional extras. There's just so much soul and energy to Japan cars of the mid 80's to early 90's. Look, rear window louvres that say MARCH at the top!! SUPERB!! And the teardrop style optional alloys! And I bet there's some optional £2000 Nakamichi stereo system somewhere, there always is with Japanese brochures. The amount of stuff you could get back then is amazing, always makes me smile when I see optional CRT TV's in brochures from 1989 etc.
I heard theres 3 March ST's in the country and one of them is running like a low 14. Not bad for a scrabbler under 1 litre in full street trim.
I am no great lover of either small cars, FWD cars, Micras, late 80s hatches, but I have a real yearn for a March ST. Just something so wrong about i that makes it right.

That last video clip was from last weekend I think - my mate who went up told me about this car too, when he described to be the the big inset round foglamps I knew it had to be a March. This and the 11sec Corsa were the two cars that impressed him most (and he's not a total car Nut
What is it with 'March' is this the same company that were involved with formula 1 and the six wheeled racers? Or was it just the time of the year they made them?

i beleive a march is just a J micra... like the eunos roadster / mx5 thing.

Oh I see - thats pretty boring really ;D Was kinda hoping it was the Clio 'Williams' of the 80s. Still a stonking motor and suitably quirky - Kinda Nissan's answer to the Daihastsu Charade GTTi that the UK didn't get
