Entirely the fault of wobbly French car owners Dollywobbler and Ben711200 for getting me thinking about the potential in retro and classic French tin. First of all, I got a wealth of modified French lovelies from the blog of Etienne Musslín. This is just so right. So is this. WANT! I remember reading an article on this one somewhere, but I can't remember where. I'm undecided about this one. Omnomnom Rat Rod seems a popular theme and, when you think about it, makes a lot of sense as an image for a basic peasant type car. Bouef Even the Kustom Bart Tiki Wagon makes an appearance Then there's Olli Erkilla who specialises in digital mods and does some jolly good ones too. This is pretty sweet As is this Dyane coupé. Then it was time to just attack Google with words. One of the Andy Saunders creations. Another one of Mr Saunder's brain childs. Back to non Andy Saunders stuff... I'm sure there's more. Let's see what you can find, real, photoshopped or drawn, it's all good.

It's a shame you don't see more enthusiast owned cars on the street en France. They do have brilliant domestic cars for customising.

You missed out my two favourite Olli ones: i found his work via this forum a couple of years back, there was a thread about it iirc. Very cool designs if only they were reality!! Here's one from my last France trip last summer.

I bought the Dyane as a cheap mode of transport.. but I think I'm falling in love ;D I'm actually starting to feel guilty about not realising it's potential sooner..

I too am really wanting a 2cv or a dolly they're the same thing! GEEK MODE ON Actually, the Dolly was a special version of the 2CV, so while a Dolly is always a 2CV, a 2CV is not always a Dolly. GEEK MODE OFF

FBB: That blue DS I've found really difficult to find decent pictures of online, glad you found one wee can all enjoy. What's the story with the white one? I've seen pictures of it in an indoor show but know nothing about it, looks mad.

What's the story with the white one? I've seen pictures of it in an indoor show but know nothing about it, looks mad. It's from a French Sci-fi/crime film called Fantomas, made in the mid sixties. I only found out about it because one of our suppliers made models of the DS and the Citroen HY van that appeared in the film. Apparently the Fantomas character dates back to books and comics a hundred or so years ago and he is a sociopathic criminal mastermind. The character was resurrected in the sixties as an alternative to James Bond. I really ought to find out of the films are available on DVD, they look quite fun. The blue DS came up on a google image search for 'fantomas citroen' but there's no info on the forum I grabbed it from. Edit - A google search for Citroen DS hotrod finds the owner's blog. It has an LS1 in it. It's also reminded me of some other odd Citroens I saw at Retromobile a few years back and have had across my desk in model form. *heads back to google.
