Diesel scimitar is always an interesting prospect
My v6 gets in the region of 28mpg daily, 37mpg long run. There not as bad as you think when there really mechanically set up right.
Getting rear disc brakes now too so maybe hte handbrake will work for once.
Looking good! Hope to see you at curborough this year.

I've always fancied a SE5 with a nice 2.5/3.0 TD engine. This and the other similar builds on here has whet my appetite some more.

Hi mrrodney, Sorry for the late reply, don't get on here much anymore. I mounted the original throttle potentiometer onto the pedal box working straight off the throttle pedal. For the wiring loom, I pulled the whole loom from the donor car, downloaded the wiring diagrams and painstakingly went through the loom cutting out any wires that seemed unnecessary. Most of these were to operate lights, speakers, electric windows etc... I left any wires that seemed important or went to the ignition, dash or ECU. I was left with a small loom, as you can see above, which included the ignition switch, relays, some of the fuse box and the ECU connector and the one that goes to the engine loom. I guess in some ways I was lucky that it started and ran without a problem. The engine loom remained standard apart from a wire run from the Scimitar charging light to the altenator. The fuel pump is on all the time, relayed, via the ignition switch. Hope this helps!

The Scim is fast enough to be fun, and does around 40mpg. The torque of the engine and the welded diff make it really entertaining. It's getting a bit tired now from being driven everyday so is soon to be moved on if a loving home can be found or more likely broken up and the useful bits kept. I've already broken another one so if there's any parts anyone needs fire me a PM.
Jim, I can't remember where I got the wiring diagram from but googling 'BMW E36 wiring diagram' brings up a link to the PDF for the complete car in the first result. HTH

I missed this first time around, I'd love a brown Scimitar The Engine conversion looks tidy too, I hope it survived.

Love this I'm putting the same engine into my Daimler. I'm having an issue with mine it starts fine and idles fine it will rev with about 10% of the throttle but then drops back down to idle after that just wondering if you can remember what exactly you wired up as I'm not sure if I'm missing something ? Many thanks

Many thanks Hi! Sorry man, far too much water under the bridge since then for me to remember. If it's revving up a bit could it be that the throttle potentiometer at the pedal isn't working properly? I think they work like a Scalextirc controller. I'm no expert but you should be able to measure the voltage or resistance change through the range of movement to see if it drops off? My car was sold about 3 years ago after being in daily use for a good few years. It was in a bit of a state inside and out but I think the guy that bought it is still fiddling with it.
