rather than a baffle of any description to stop 'sloshing'.... is a more a case of knowing how much oil should be in the sump when running, then filling the sump with this amt of liquid, mocking up the pick up in its position, and tilting the sump at all angles to see how much drains away from the pick up?

Twizzle - Cheers dude, one of the few advantages of IFS is that the front axle is fixed position so you can drop the engine quite low around it. I've got poly bushes in the front 2 mounts too so front axle movement should be minimal. John - Welcome back! That was my thinking on the baffling too. The stuff I do looks downrite agricultural in comparison to Dez' Soopahfly - Thanks, I may yet add a JDMism re the arches, we shall see petetong - Cheers, loving your late reg winter project too. I've got Astra shocks and stock springs with 65mm spacers. Now I've made the heim joint spacer it's got loads of articulation. Talk to me about CV preservation, it's one of the reasons I made the diff droppers. ruishy1 - Cheers dude 10mpg - Thanks for the link, funnily enough I'd been looking around the caterham forums at that, but...................... pablopancake - ............I reckon that's it right there! It's about the static angle more than the G-forces, bit more research about how much oil is left in the sump when the engine's running and I'll have a much better idea of what or if I need something in there. Had a parcel at work today so more pictures tomorrow as I'm in the garage playing at the moment

Part 2 of this project should be putting the Vitara Shell on the Honda Chassis, to make something like a JDM Bryn's Landy. +1 for the body dropped shitara - possibly sporting a vtec? although i'm sure you'd be better off with a more recent civic chassis come to think of it. hmm.

Talk to me about CV preservation, it's one of the reasons I made the diff droppers bracket rover 600 rear springs give you a 3" lift with out the need for spacer.. standard vit ones on the left.. rover springs on the right.. i found i was busting CV nearly ever time i was out but it was allwas the outer CV that was pulling itself apart.. so.. i removed the outer curclip from the hub end of the drive shaft.. by doing this it ment that the shaft was free to "float" about in the hub when the front hub was on full drop.. and there for the CV was'nt trying to pull its self apart ;D did this to both the vitaras i had,and never broke a CV after that worked for me..only thing i keep smashing after that was front diffs!! but steel diesel one sorted that out!!

Cheers folks, I've already got my next project lined up, so the slammed Vit will have to wait, rest assured that the next project will involve a vtec though petetong - I've been keeping an eye out for some 600 rear springs to come up really cheap, either that or some GV ones. I found that it was always the O/S CV that burst, so, alongside the diff droppers, I'll be running a N/S shaft in between the O/S CVs, this is 15mm longer and puts the spider further back in the cup on the outer CV, nearly the same end result as taking the circlip off. Right, update time! Thursday - Painted the sump and fitted it with gaskets Courier delivered my new(s/h) clutch and flywheel to work on Friday Thanks to robinxr4i for coming round a few weeks back with his recently purchased fwd V6 clutch and flywheel, I measured it and it was exactly what I needed. So after biding my time one came up on ebizzle, which I snaffled After work I was straight into the garage with my new bits gearbox off and back on, clutch release arm is now in the correct place, Hoorah! Saturday, and after a lie in, some shopping and a spot of dinner, I'm back out in the garage. Chop the original manifold as it sits where the engine mount now is Bit of a tap about to get them match and the first ones go on Fully welded and dressed off 3 down, 1 to go Done! Was a bit late for any more grinding so I went inside and watched SWMBO playing black ops for a bit. Sunday, added the collector Rescued the back box out of the garden. I salvaged it off the Cav I broke. Chopped it about a bit so that it'll sit here Took the gearbox cross member back off again and welded in a notch for the pipe to sit in And connected it to the manifold, adding in the section with the lambda boss in it Added a brace, both to strengthen this corner and to provide somewhere to bolt it to the gearbox Made brackets to put an exhaust rubber on, also made a plate with captives to spread the load of the crossmember a bit better where it bolts on to the chassis Whilst tidying up I realised that I'd left the engine block to gearbox brace off (mainly because I found it whilst tidying!) A few heart stopping moments whilst I tried it in place. Luckily after countersinking the bolt it fits! More soon!

literally amazing man. I want to do stuff this good! I know I never will but if I could get to even 30% of this standard Id be a happy man! STILL cannot wait to see this cracking I suppose even though the V6 flywheel is a weighty beast, thats probably beneficial off-roading?

most of the frontera boxes are the same bell houseing as fwd vauxhalls. there used to be a cavalier v6 engined frontera sport near me, ended up in a ditch upsidedown.

Didn't know the Frontera gearboxes went onto the XE. depends on which frontera its out of 8v and Ecotec frontys have the same pattern. CIH engined ones and I believe all the diesels do not.
