I've got a bit of a patchwork car history... I'm only 22 but have owned over 40 vehicles, somehow... It started when I was 15 (and a bit of a naughty boy) - I spent a lot of nights 'messing around' up the local park with my best mates, taking/doing things I shouldn't really have been doing... and driving in my mate's mk2! When my mate died, I ended up with the car... alas it was rotten as a pear and eventually got weighed in. Then when I was 16, coming up to 17, I took a punt on a bay window camper! Bought it, then decided that it wasn't a practical first car... so sold it and bought a Clio. Didn't like the clio, and my sister wrote off her car - so I part exchanged the clio (and £3000) for my parents bay window campervan (see where this is going?!) Although I loved my first bay - it always felt like 'their' car and everything I did to it I felt I was being judged,... so I saved up some money and bought a T25 panel van as well. Then sold it. Then bought another one. Then sold that. Then bought another one, and sold that too!! Then I bought a beetle! And I loved it! So I bought another one, in pieces. And another one. Then I bought another T25 and sold the beetles! I was on ebay a lot in college and bought a project bay in a field for £300, but I went to look at it and decided it wasn't worth it... so sold it on to my mate for £300 the same day without ever taking it home! ...a couple of months later, I liked my old T25 but I wanted a better one, so I bought a diesel caravelle on ebay that had 12,000 miles from new - and sold my poor old beaten up, hammerited panel van! (I still miss it's character, to be honest!!) This is 2007... now the story gets a bit mental! Then a few months later I bought a T25 panel van (it was a bargain!) - drove it for a bit, then sold it to a guy locally. I then bought a T25 Syncro panel van, and sold my caravelle. Then I realised I liked the caravelle, so bought another one... decided it was curse word, and sold both the syncro and the caravelle and drove the bay daily for a bit. I also bought a 'project' T25 panel van with a GTi engine off my mate, then broke it and sold it for parts... Then I bought an LT28 panel van camper conversion, which I liked but I lived in a place with no parking... so I bought a mk2 polo as well! Then I sold the polo for £80 when the head gasket went!!! hah Then I bought 2 T25's cheap from a bloke in the village, rebuilt them, got them working, and sold them both on... Then I swapped the LT28 for the T25 that I'd sold to a local guy before... and kept that T25 for a few months. then I bought a crewcab pickup as well! Haha! Then sold them both... This is now 2008, are you keeping up?! I bought an LT35 minibus converted (Shitly) into a camper! It was amazing! I loved it! Most reliable vehicle EVER! Went everywhere in it... bla bla bla Loved it. Kept it up until this summer, in fact! But in the mean time I also bought a mk3 golf (hated it), a syncro (didn't get on with it but it was good in the snow!), and another LT35. Then sold things off again... and now I've got a mk2 golf and an LT28!! And the bay, but that's off the road... And, in answer to the original question... before I went off on my tangent The first time, and every subsequent time, has been special and exciting. I think it's like an addiction! Can't wait to get home and start playing!! I think I've even missed a couple but that's the majority

this was mine- it had a 2L type 4 with a cam and brand new twin 40 dells, black vinyl corbeau buckets, harnesses, momo wheel, tons of other decent bits. i bought it off a mate of a mate for half what it was worth after he lost interest in it and swapped his ICE install (whole back seats worth) into a bus i think. id already got an accident damaged shed of a beetle in bits though, but it needed a lot of work to get it on the road. the type 3 cost me nearly as much to insure as to buy though!! i then made full use of being on a modified policy though, i fitted 944 brakes, cup1 wheels, made some dropped spindles, stripped the interior, and terrorised the neighbourhood. good job i lived in the sticks!! then, after a couple of years of that,, i moved onto this- then i bought a stacklight merc and it all went downhill from there. ive currently got a ford model A sedan, a '38 hudson pickup, a 100e prefect, a e28, and an escort van, amongst other things, so i suppose i have moved up the ranks a bit.

My first time was luck more than anything. Went to look at a slightly rustly ford Ka up the road, decided it was a dud and was on my way back home. Saw a Micra outside a corner shop with a sign in the window. Reading the sign, "blah blah blah, see in shop". Went in, took it for a test drive and bought it. The guy threw in a tank of petrol and the boxes of crisps in the boot as well. Driving home with full stomachs, car decided to have a couple of hiccups but plugs/oil/filters fixed that. Have been asked if the crisps came with the car or the car with the crisps back home.. As I bought it: Replacing bumper: (featuring temp home brew plate ) That's about it so far. Other than a few small bits and bobs.

For me the first was a fiat UNO,1.1,60s 5dr in green,WOW!!!I did love it though, well until someone poleaxed it exactly 2 days after I bought it.
Stupidly,I listened to my idiot father who told me that the £1300 payout on a car I'd paid £900 for HAD to be spent on repairs.still, the car did me proud for 2 years, until the box, exhaust and various other parts all broke at the same time!!
I was working now,so I went to the bank and bought a fiat UNO turbo, loved it,I'd say it would still be fast by today's standards, awesome fun but boy did I have a steep learning curve on that car!!!almost EVERYTHING little broke on it,usually at really important times.
Next a mk1 gti that's still going around,OGF 186Y,good car til I trusted my mate to work on it,he hammered it everywhere and basically denied all knowledge when it went bang.
In the meantime I bought a mk2 16v which was a good car, didn't give much for it either, but no mk1.
Got the mk1 sorted and sold it for good $$$.
Bought a series one Rs turbo in the dark, really bad move.got me from the blokes house to the end of the road, put some boost on then it died and never really ran right again.gutted.
Bought a mk1 xr2,top motor, swapped it for a mk2 gti that to this day was by far the fastest mk2 I've ever driven, battered but full vw fsh proved it's worth, went straight past the 120mph speedo.
Swapped the s1 for an xr2i which I adored, brilliant car,bit of a lady magnet too!! Sold the mk2 16v and the mk2 8v and found myself with a few grand burning a hole in my pocket(oh the days!!!). Again, bought a late night s1 much to the disgust of my mates but they needn't have worried,it was a corker,no rust in the usual places ,ran well.I drove it for two years and if I do say so myself it looked amazing on it's 17" momo arrows,konis,1/2 leather recaros,I was seriously in love with that car and honestly regret selling more than ANY other.
A fiesta turbo next, nice but too small for me,p/x d it for a Saph cos,2wd cracker but it was heavy on petrol then.still the fastest car I've owned, but proper tail happy!
Ended up selling in bits as the insurance deemed them worthless around 2001/2.got my 328i Cabriolet then which I still own now, great car,did 100k in it but a lack of servicing on my behalf let me down and although it looks right now,it needs some magic under the bonnet.that car will never be sold!!!
I've had possibly 40 other dailys/sheds/breakers in that time, few bikes, vans etc but basically a lot of cash gone!!!
Right now,interesting cars include my 4x4 Sierra Cossie,mk1 golf cab,fzr 600r.
More sensible are the merc ml,jeep grand cherokee,Corsa 16v (for sale!!),3xka's,a fiesta derv, car trailer and I think that's about it.
I absolutely love cars,I can't ever imagine not having some sort of project on the go.my boys 17 in 2 years so I'm planning on what to do for him, small engined of course!!!
I'm looking forward to getting the Cossie sorted but I know it won't be staying for too long as I'm feeling the series one bug again,I want it proper bufty,painted/buffed underside etc, nice 200bhp motor, dropped low with wide rims and a full leather saff cos trim, oops I've drooled everywhere!!!

This was the first time I spent a great deal of money on a car - or more than a month's wages on one: It came with a full sound system, I remember picking it up and putting Dillinger Escape Plan on the stereo. I went everywhere in that car and have fond memories of the things I did and the places I went. I can't bear to sell it and still have it all these years later!

I started with a 1994 Fiat Uno 1.0i FIRE bought for £350 did some max power stuff to it - big wheels, loud exhaust, viper stripes and after a year eventually lowered it and blew the headgasket. spent a hell of a lot of money fixing it every other week too! wish I could buy it back now to modify it properly then had a pug 306 1.4 for a while but the brakes failed. realised what id been missing out on though. that car handled so well. then I had a 2001 Fiat Brava 1.6i 16v was a really nice car, fitted alfa cloverleaf wheels to it and lowered it. It handled really well and was really fast and reliable but just not my thing so I bought.... a Mini 1.3i id wanted one since I was 15 so I bought one and spent loads of money keeping it in immaculate condition. but I got fed up of having no room or money so I bought a 1995 Nissan Sunny 1.4i which is when I became a wheel whore great car wish I hadn't sold it but I lost my job and needed something which cost nothing to run so I bought this... 1996 Rover 100 1.5 DIESEL. really good on fuel. named it hank the tank. shame it was full of filler though. so I ratted it and scrapped it a while later after the alternator packed up. before after!! then I bought my current car, 1991 Ford Fiesta 1.4i with 20,000miles on the clock I swore I wouldnt modify it but I couldnt help thinking about how cool it would look really low with a nice set of wheels so here she is today Plans are to keep this car for a very very long time. Looking back I havent really got any higher up in the car 'ranks' but ive learnt alot along the way

my first time was far from special, aunts old 1.3 mk3 fiesta finesse 3dr, it was a nice car ruined by her constantly asking "how is my car doing then?" which i wouldnt have minded too much but for the fact i paid £500 for it! if she had just given it to me then i could have accepted it, but i paid for it, it was MY car not hers! but oh no!! still "her car" so naturally that had to go! 2nd time was certainly special though! not without its problems, but hell! its a Capri

First RR pic I can locate! the carpark between the big apple and castellammare! Nice golf btw Yeah,I used to live in west cross, where a lot of the photos were taken!!!my mums house now so I've still got a few parked over there. I'm in pennard now so a bit further out. Nice looking car that golf, but horrible cars to drive,no match for the older ones, heavy on petrol, slow, poor handling, just rubbish. I swapped the red Audi for it and quickly realised the huge mistake id made but got lucky and swapped it back 6months later. Those Audi coupes are fantastic, mine had the 2.3 10v engine and drove like new, sounded immense!!!

I started with a 309 1.3 when I was 19. Had a Peco Big Bore 2 exhaust, SRi spoiler and alloys from a 205GTi. Loved it. This was on the way home from picking it up - showing it off to the grandparents! I now have: and and Which is going back to my mate shortly. Hopefully to be replaced (if negotiations go well) by:

I guess I've had 2 first cars.
When I was 16 I bought a Ford Sierra 1.6 Laser and managed to turn it over in a field about 2 hours after purchase.
The 1st car I bought for the road was a 1275 Mini which I purchased off of the bay and then flew to Leeds to collect and drove back to the Ferry at Holyhead, Great first drive through North Wales with the sun going down and the straight through exhaust making outrageous sounds through the tunnels.
The only model of car I've owned move than one of is a Sierra but I will have another E30 and 911 at some point, in M3 and 993 Carrera 2 guises respectively.
