Been my daily for nearly 2 years now. Bought off ebay with 58,000 miles, no history but seems genuine. Only defects were rust bubble by the aerial and laquer on the roof is dying. This is pretty much as bought .(apart from the springs became shorter). 4 spokes got polished , got a grant wheel , clear indicators and the badges off the bootlid. Clutch started dying about now , while doing that a 5 speed went in as well. Then a brand new twin choke as the VV was playing up a bit. Sold the 4 spokes , planning to put the superlights of the mk2 on it. did not fit without rubbing , and did not want to mess with mint arches. So mk6 Escort wheels. Debadged grille now (and some snow)

Funny how the older these get the cooler they look. :-)
Looks really well with the de-badged front end , what a difference!

Damn that's a tidy example Diff, super smashing great! Lovely daily driver especially when you've got the stunning mk2 to fall back on when the weather is being kind. Don't tell me you also own the mk2 Cortina estate, white Capri and the red 2 door Cortina in second picture?

It ain't bad , got to change a door sill next year as one has been put on by Stevie Wonder. No mate , the others in that picture were at a rolling road shootout for Classic Ford Mag last year with Buysellcortina.co.uk

SOOOOO Jealous! Absolutely stunning Mk5! Loved it on 13's but as a daily drive the 15's make a lot of sense!

Thanks , want to put more modern engine in but think this car deserves to stay as it is. I'm all for mechanical mods on virtually all cars but I think you're right here. Assuming it's currently a 1.6, I'd be very tempted by a warmed over 2.0 but that's just me! ;D This needs to look standard under the bonnet, no twin sidedraughts etc. Lovely car mate.

VAG TDI engine ftw! Would look brilliant opening that incredibly clean shiny bonnet and see a clean modern plastic covered engine looking back.

Personally, i'd want to shoehorn a 2.0 iS from a Sierra in there, with a limited slip diff & big brakes, or go the fully mental route - and dump a 4.6 Modular Ford V8 in there ...Or you could go for the 'inbetween' option and go for a 4-litre straight 6 from a Ford Falcon (SOHC version, not the pushrod one)...omnomnomnoise

Its not going to happen in the near future as its just gone over 70,000 miles, but if it does get modified it will get a 2.0 zetec.

Looks really clean and tidy diff which comes as no surprize ;D
The debadged grill works very well, did you mod it or can they be bought? I fancy one for mine and had been thinking of making one though it could be tricky to get a oe looking finish I'm thinking...

Chopped out the badge and filled the remaining hole with mesh and filler. Couple of coats of primer then while the last coat of primer is still wet texture it with a paint brush . Bit of satin black and its sorted

2.0 Zetec is a good shout. If you keep standard injection it'll have be fairly nippy and will get double the mpg!

It is actually very proper looking with its tu-tone paint and Escort wheels. And normally I prefer yellow indicators, but the white ones are in this case cleaner, and goes well together with the debadged grille. Nice.

Nice. 3 tone at the moment , finally done the dodgy door sill and its in red primer, and the escort wheels are going shortly to be replaced with 13's .

Really like these cars - a late Cortina is definately now top of my 'I want one of those next' list as soon as one of my other cars sell. Yours is just the clean look I'm after - love it

Currently driving a 1972 BMW 1602 as my daily. Don't ask about previous cars - there have been way too many and I stopped counting at 160!
