Soon I will get a vid of it out in the open. Couldn't run it too long today as I had to plug a vac leak, but with it finger plugged it was idling fine (if lumpy as hell thanks to the cam. Awesome).
Will get a vid of it next time.

There we go. Fairly sure I need a new battery despite buying that one less than a year ago. And the exhaust on the OS is leaking fairly badly. But, it idles and runs! Had it out to shoogle the garage space about a bit. Really should have got a pic of it in the daylight. Looked deadly...

OK, i'm not posting a for sale thread, as this is the very early stages of an idea. But.... if anyone who reads this and likes the car may be interested in making an offer to take this thing, i could be at the stage of being convinced to part with it. Its sat in a garage 150 miles from where i live, and just needs tidying and painting to finish. If i move it the car will end up sat outside, exposed to elements, and finances are so tight right now that it wont be a quick fix.
Bit of a pivotal stage right now, but i really am loathed to part with it being so close to completing it. With this in mind, i'm not putting a for sale up as its going to attract dreamers and timewasters. If you read the build thread, you know the car and the history, and as such (in my mind) would be more likely to give this thing the attention it needs to complete it.
If you want to make me an offer, PM me.

Still in the for sale frame of mind, dare say it may change over the next few months. Any interest?

Keep it! You have to at least have some fun terrorising the neighbours in it first!

It would need a fair bit of work before i even got to do that Mel. I just don't have the time, money, or space at the moment.

Fair enough I understand that. I'm breaking my supra and so far only paying bills with the proceeds :-(

Jebus. This thread hasn't seen an update for a while. Here's why: retrorides.proboards.com/thread/146422/overdrives-skunkworks-buildBasically, i had the fear that i would need to sell the big lump as i wouldn't have anywhere to keep it. As it happens, as of tomorrow i will, so i went down to Glasgow last weekend with a mate to drag the Camaro out and tow it to his barn. Here it would stay for a week before coming up to its new home to get ... well after the findings on Saturday, a full strip down and rebuild. For example, the big lump has sat for 6 months, and despite having no handbrake on the rear drum was still seized. Pushed for time, i resorted to nearly killing my Passat dragging it out the garage. Just enough so that we could try starting it... And start it did, after a jump. Shame it only ran for a minute before dying completely and steadfastly refusing to start again/. Looks like its getting dragged all the way to the street. Luckily we managed to free that rear drum off after a solid thump with the lump hammer. Once out there we got it winched onto the trailer... just. Its rear tires needed the air out to allow them to nip in. It was an inch wider than the trailer. To its temporary home! Oh aye,a and i ripped the exhaust off pulling it out the garage. Its really not in a good way.. Anyway, some pics of it tucked up in its Ratho Barn. It is squeezed in there tight...

Poor Camaro... The big move was really the last time i gave the big beast the time of day. Since then its sat in the garage taunting me with its massive footprint... Been painted around... And walked from one side to the other.... I will, guaranteed, be looking into this as soon as the MR2 runs under its own steam again... But until that time i at least slung a couple of axle stands under it to give the illusion that its getting attention.

OK. Back from 5 weeks in Dubai. Pulled in a decent bonus, but I wont lie... I have other projects, and at least 2 of them are low hanging fruit compared to this one. As such, the hefty bonus I have got will for the most part, unfortunately, be spent getting them on the road. There are some silver linings for the big yank brute though. 1. With both said projects also occupying space in the Skunkworks, clearing them will give me the space needed to properly spread out and attack the Camaro. 2. I said most of the bonus. Not all... Having got back I did pick up a rather nifty all singing battery charger. I gave it a whirl on the suspect battery currently fitted to the Camaro. ..and following a couple of cranks it fired up to life. Same issues though, bogging, missing on cylinders, refusal to idle... Meh. So i caved in. Bit the bullet. Took a drastic step. Bought a Corvette V8 small block. One with a 4 bolt main cap, and a 5.7 litre to boot. Thats the good news. The bad news is that, well... it isn't exactly turn-key. I collected it on Saturday... Visually it seems in good condition. It is a 4 bolt block... The numbers indicate it to be a 350 lump. All good in the hood. I do have other bits and bobs included in the sale. I have a couple of cylinder head sets, which will require investigation to determine if they are worth utilising. I also have a beastly 4 puck clutch plate and cover which will be co9mpletely useless, using the wrong spline from my box. Also have a high rise intake manifold, which looks a bit like the Torker design. Not sure. So it looks like the long path to serious power has had the initial steps taken...

Bad news (or good depending on where you sit). I've had a but of a soul search. Ultimately, I have decided to let the Camaro go for a variety of reasons. A substantial for sale thread will follow over the weekend, but if anyone want to make an offer before that, PM me.

I'm sorry to say folks, the Camaro is no longer with us.
OK, that was a bit overdramatic. IT is still in existence. I have decided to sell her on for a number of reasons, not least that I'm just not doing it justice. Realistically it would be months if not years before I could properly get her back on the road, and in that time its just languishing in the Skunkworks taking up room. I put a for sale ad up and 2 very decent gents have taken on the challenge of getting her on the road and in drag racing fettle.
They found the car from here, so I'd fully expect a thread to appear soon. All the best with it lads!
Coming soon, more V8 madness from the Skunkworks, but something slightly different from before...
