Well bit of an update. Took out the abs pump, and little brackets etc. Also bought a holset HX40 turbo for the grand total of 77 quid sometimes a bargain can be had on ebay ! Also for all the people that doubted, the engine is in, and it fits !!!!!!!!!!!!! Unfortunately there wasnt a camera to hand, but Dave took one on his phone and will post it up for me. due to the HUGE slushbox its fouling in the tunnel, a manual would sort that out but cant right now so I'm going to have to "persuade" it to fit using a vibratory percussion persuader There are two humps on the standard crossmember, these bolt onto the mounts and then the engine, these need the tops cut off and re-angled to suit the 1uzfe mounts. The brake servo is very close, so il need to notch it so its comfortable clears. The hardest part is going to be the manifolds, well on the drivers side anyway, one of the ports is only a few inches off the steering box so il need to be creative when making my manifolds But all in all I'm pleased, I thought it owuld be a little harder but was relatively straight forward, pics will be added asap

If exhaust ports are close how about some tapered log manifolds forwards to mount the turbo in front of engine.. that's what I doing on my v8 easy and logs work fine on turbo. Si

I'm gonna try and make them as tubular as possible, about 1.5-1.75 inch in DIA. to keep exhaust gas velocity up that way it will spool this turbo from a virtual standstill I'm actually having a bit of trouble with the turbo, as in its too bloody big ! I'm gonna need to do some serious modding to get it to comfortabley fit, it going in the front mate that was always the plan, but bloody big engine and bloody big turbo have taken up quite a bit of space lol

Good job your not using a hx55 then.. they is huge!.. Even pulses if good for spoiling but if its at the expense of long primarys to get even length then u can loose some heat wich will lose its advantage to spool.. tbh if a log on a Volvo 2.3 can produce 700hp then that's good enough for me.... But I know you know your stuff dude so I just add my 2p.. It's gonna go bloody well though no mater what. Is gonna be an awesome car..

well as you know si its a twin scroll, an AFAIK its a 19cm2 housing, so even a crappy designed manifold should still see full boost by about 3k, and yeah I'm glad i didnt get the hx55 now, there is virtually no room for the hx40 its going to take some creative thinking to get it to fit and work ! thanks for the kind words

its always a good feeling when you hit a milestone !
now that i know the engine fits, time to whip it back out get it on an engine stand and get it prepped and what not aswell as tidying up the bay and getting rid of the curse word thats not needed !

cheers, my turbo should proved a nice shove in the back, and ive just put a deposit down on a 6 speed box after seeing the complete lack of clearance with the autobox i think a manual really is the only way to go,.

MonStarion! Love it. I think you're right to go for the manual, if you stuck with the auto you'd always be wishing you'd gone that extra bit and fitted the manual box. It's an investment really (Hope this is helping you justify it!).

;D As some of you know ive had alot going on, bought a house, moved jobs ( twice !) but the MonStarion hasnt been forgotten, the engine has been stripped down completely, and semi mated to the 350z 6 speed box. I wedged it in there just to get it out the way while I was gone. but the car is being transported back home so thought I better make mounts so the engine doesnt come loose while its being transported. Went down the unit with the idea of making up anything just to support it, then got carried away The engine is now on solid mounts, but it needs to go back about an inch,up 10mm and twist on its axis about 20mm, but I couldn't do this due to some "issues" with the transmission tunnel Just realised that if I get the yoke from a 350z and bolt it onto my prop, its the right length and wont need cutting an welding The tunnel needs cutting and new metal welding in due to *ahem* rust issues But that wont take long once its home and I can make a box mount up, then come the hard part of making everything fit in the engine bay
